Microsoft released Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 for PlayStation 5 on December 8, 2025. The flight simulator became available to all buyers after early access starting December 3 for editions Deluxe, Premium Deluxe and Aviator. The decision represents the expansion of Xbox titles to the Sony platform.
Jörg Neumann, head of the project, proposed the PS5 port two and a half years ago. Xbox initially rejected the idea during development. An executive from Sony, a fan of the franchise, contacted Microsoft and requested the version.
The game uses an 8 GB client with cloud data to optimize the size. Players access more than 40,000 airports and 60,000 heliports in realistic flights.

DualSense exclusive features
Adaptive triggers simulate landing surface resistance. The control speaker plays announcements from the control tower.

The PS5 version operates independently from Xbox and PC. Itens and Marketplace do not transfer between platforms.
Negotiations that changed the course
Neumann highlighted the role of Sony in approval. The contact accelerated the process after the Xbox refusal.
The toll was paid by Climax Studios. The team adapted the engine for the PlayStation ecosystem.
