The Volkswagen presents the Taos 2026, a medium SUV that arrives on the Brazilian market with a renewed design and a robust technological package, aiming to strengthen its position in an increasingly competitive segment. The model, which is now imported from the México, maintains its generous dimensions and efficient engine, but incorporates a series of visual and functional innovations, such as sharper full-LED headlights and a 10.1-inch multimedia center. Lançado in October 2025, the vehicle seeks to attract consumers looking for modernity and safety, facing strong competitors such as the Jeep Compass and the Toyota Corolla Cross in a market that recorded significant growth in registrations between January and September.

Under the hood, the Taos 2026 preserves the renowned 1.4 TSI turbo flex engine, capable of delivering 150 hp of power and 25.5 kgfm of torque. The Essa engine is coupled to an eight-speed automatic transmission, providing acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 9 seconds when fueled with ethanol, ensuring agile performance both in the city and on the highway.

The Comfortline and Highline versions remain available, equipped with 18- and 19-inch wheels, respectively, giving each configuration a distinct look. Arrival at dealerships is scheduled for November or December 2025, and the automaker has not yet released official prices. Key changes include:

  • New color options Azul Pacífico and Cinza Glacial, with the possibility of a black roof in the Highline version.
  • Premium interior finishing on seats and doors, now with contrasting stitching that elevates the perception of quality.
  • Configurable ambient lighting in 10 colors, allowing you to customize the cabin atmosphere.

Front design redefines identity

At the front, the full-LED iQ.Light headlights have been redesigned, adopting a narrower “X” shape that harmoniously integrates with the front grille. Este optical assembly gives the Taos 2026 a modern and recognizable light signature, especially at night. The bumper has been enlarged, not only for a more robust aesthetic appeal, but also to optimize airflow for engine cooling, contributing to the vehicle’s efficiency.

These visual updates align the Taos with the global identity of the Volkswagen SUV line, with elements that refer to models such as the T-Cross and Nivus. Novas light alloy wheels complement the external appearance, without changing the overall dimensions of the vehicle, maintaining the characteristic practicality and internal space.

Rear stands out with new lighting

The rear of the Taos 2026 receives one of the most innovative highlights: LED lights connected by a horizontal light bar that incorporates the Volkswagen logo illuminated in red. Este feature, unprecedented in the brand’s Brazilian portfolio, not only modernizes the look, but also creates an unmistakable nighttime identity for the SUV. The rear bumper maintains its current shape, prioritizing functionality and robustness.

The trunk dimensions of 498 liters and the wheelbase of 2.68 meters remain unchanged, guaranteeing load capacity and comfort for the occupants, characteristics valued in the medium SUV segment. The new lighting signature reinforces the modernity of the set, without compromising functionality and internal space, crucial elements for families and travel.

Interior improved in comfort and connectivity

The cabin of the Taos 2026 has been significantly improved to offer greater comfort and an intuitive technological experience. Bancos and dashboard now feature premium synthetic covering, adorned with contrast stitching that adds a touch of sophistication. The fully customizable 10.25-inch digital instrument panel allows the driver to configure the display of various information, including consumption data, navigation and driver assistance, according to their preferences. The 10.1-inch VW Play Connect multimedia center, with a semi-floating design, offers wireless compatibility with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, facilitating smartphone integration. Além In addition, the vehicle has an induction cell phone charger and integration with the Meu VW app, which adds 15 remote functions, such as locating the vehicle, activating the air conditioning and locking the doors, providing greater convenience and safety. Over-the-air updates ensure system software is always up to date, and interior space maintains capacity for five occupants, with rear seats folding flat for increased versatility.

Security package increases protection

Security is a key pillar in the Taos 2026, which comes equipped with a robust suite of features. Seis standard airbags ensure the protection of occupants in frontal and side collisions, while stability control and hill start assistant work to prevent loss of traction and facilitate maneuvers on slopes. Autonomous emergency braking, a crucial system, detects pedestrians and vehicles ahead, automatically applying the brakes to avoid or mitigate accidents. The lane keeping assistant corrects the vehicle’s trajectory in the event of unintentional deviations, and blind spot monitoring alerts the driver to vehicles approaching from the sides, preventing dangerous overtaking.

For an even safer and more relaxing driving experience on long journeys, the Travel Assist combines adaptive cruise control with lane keeping assist, allowing semi-autonomous driving on highways. The cross traffic assistant, in turn, monitors the rear area of the vehicle and applies the brakes in dangerous reversing maneuvers, such as when leaving a parking space, reinforcing safety in situations of low speed and reduced visibility.

In 2025, Taos registered 11.3 thousand units sold until September, according to data from Fenabrave, in a category that totaled 53 thousand registrations. The restyling seeks to strengthen this participation, especially in the face of growing competition from Chinese hybrid models. The current versions cost R$ 206,990 for the Comfortline and R$ 231,990 for the
