Nvidia has officially announced the latest evolution of its artificial intelligence rendering technology, DLSS 4.5. The new version promises to transform the gaming experience by introducing a more advanced AI model and an unprecedented dynamic frame generation system, designed to drastically optimize performance, especially on monitors with high refresh rates. The update represents a significant step for the company, focusing on greater image quality and unprecedented fluidity.

The main goal of DLSS 4.5 is to deliver substantially higher frame rates, allowing gamers to make the most of modern hardware. With the ability to multiply performance, the technology aims to eliminate bottlenecks in graphics-intensive titles, such as those that use ray tracing extensively. Management of new features will be centralized in Nvidia App, simplifying configuration for users.

The revelation, which took place in a strategic period close to major technology events, highlights Nvidia’s commitment to leading innovation in the games market. Although compatibility is broad between cards in the RTX line, the most advanced features will be reserved for the company’s latest generation architecture, consolidating the new technology as an important competitive differentiator for future hardware launches.

The brain behind the image: the new AI model

At the heart of DLSS 4.5 is a completely revamped artificial intelligence model, now based on a second-generation transformer architecture. Essa fundamental update to the algorithm allows the system to process temporal and spatial data with much greater efficiency and accuracy than previous versions. The practical result is a noticeable improvement in image stability, especially during fast-moving scenes, where artifacts such as “ghosting” or unwanted trailing are significantly reduced. Além In addition, the new AI model improves the anti-aliasing process, which smoothes the jagged edges of objects, delivering cleaner, sharper contours. Elementos far away in the scene also benefits, with improved definition that contributes to a more convincing and realistic visual immersion, all without imposing a performance penalty that compromises fluid gameplay.

Frame generation becomes flexible and intelligent

One of the most impactful innovations in DLSS 4.5 is Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, or Geração Dinâmica of Múltiplos Quadros. Diferente compared to previous versions that operated with fixed multipliers, this new system allows the technology to dynamically adjust the number of frames generated by AI in real time. Players will be able to set a desired frames per second (FPS) target directly in the Nvidia App. From there, the software will intelligently adjust frame generation, using multipliers that can range from 3x to 6x, to ensure the performance target is achieved consistently and stably.

Essa flexible approach is particularly beneficial for owners of monitors with very high refresh rates, such as 240 Hz or higher. In game scenarios where graphical load fluctuates, the system can increase or decrease frame generation to maintain fluidity without requiring manual user intervention. This adaptability ensures that the experience remains smooth both in calmer moments of exploration and in intense combat scenes, optimizing the use of GPU resources and providing a competitive advantage in games that demand fast reflexes and precision.

Details on RTX cross-gen compatibility

Nvidia has ensured that a key part of DLSS 4.5, the Super Resolution feature, will maintain broad compatibility. Ele will be available for all graphics cards in the GeForce RTX lineup, starting with the 20 series and including the 30, 40, and 50 series models.

The Geração Dinâmica functionality of Quadros, however, will have a staggered implementation. The initial, more basic versions of the feature will be gradually extended to older card series, allowing more users to access some of the performance gains.

However, the maximum capacity of the technology, specifically the up to 6x Dynamic Multi Frame Generation multiplier, will be an exclusive feature of the future RTX 50 series cards at launch. Essa limitation is a technical decision and not just a market one.

The exclusivity is due to the heavy dependence on specific hardware components. The maximum performance of the new generation of AI requires the processing power of the fifth generation Tensor cores, which are one of the main architectural innovations present only in the RTX 50 series, justifying the initial restriction.

How technology will be controlled by players

The management of all new DLSS 4.5 features will be centralized on Nvidia App, the company’s new unified platform. Através With an intuitive interface, users will be able to activate and customize features with ease, defining global optimization profiles or customizing settings for each game individually.

The platform will allow players to set performance goals, such as a target FPS number, and the system will be in charge of dynamically adjusting frame generation to achieve that goal. The distribution of the technology and its ongoing updates will be done through the Game Ready drivers, ensuring that players always have access to the latest optimizations and support for new releases.

A leap compared to previous versions

DLSS 4.5 consolidates and refines the technologies introduced in its previous iterations, representing a significant advance over DLSS 3. The main evolution lies in the transition from a frame generation system with fixed multipliers to a dynamic and adaptive approach, which responds intelligently to the needs of the game and the player.

This flexibility resolves one of the main criticisms made of previous versions, offering more granular control over the balance between performance and visual quality. Players are no longer tied to pre-defined modes and can aim for a more consistent gaming experience.

Additionally, the new second-generation transformer-based AI model raises the bar for image quality. Ele processes data from previous frames and motion vectors with greater precision, which results in a more stable image reconstruction with fewer visual artifacts, even in complex situations with high screen movement.

Implementation in games and release schedule

Nvidia plans a phased release for DLSS 4.5. The enhanced Super Resolution functionality and the basic Geração Dinâmica version of Quadros will be available from the first driver compatible with the new technology, immediately benefiting a vast ecosystem of more than 900 games and applications that already support RTX technologies.

The full capabilities of the Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, including the impressive 6x multiplier, are scheduled to arrive in a later software update. The company’s official forecast points to spring 2026, a schedule that should coincide with the launch and wide availability of the RTX 50 series cards.

What to expect in terms of performance

The combination of software and hardware innovations in DLSS 4.5 promises a performance boost that can, in ideal scenarios and with optimized settings, multiply frame rates by up to six times. Esse extraordinary gain is achieved without significantly compromising visual quality, thanks to the power of the new artificial intelligence model, which reconstructs images with high fidelity.
