Xiaomi has redefined expectations for mobile photography with the official announcement of its newest flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. Lançado initially launched on the Chinese market on December 25, the device arrives as a result of an in-depth collaboration with renowned camera manufacturer Leica, promising unprecedented photographic performance in the segment.

The device’s biggest difference is its camera system, which incorporates cutting-edge technologies. Entre highlights are a one-inch main sensor with LOFIC technology, which enhances dynamic range, and an APO-certified periscopic telephoto lens, designed to deliver high-quality continuous optical zoom while minimizing chromatic distortion.

Equipped with the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, the smartphone is not limited to photography, offering robust performance for all tasks. A special edition, developed together with the Leica, complements the experience with a design that recalls the German brand’s classic cameras, including a physical ring for manual zoom and focus adjustments.

Sophisticated design with premium finishes

The design of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra has been carefully refined to combine aesthetics and functionality. Embora maintains the characteristic circular camera module, it has been repositioned at the top of the chassis, giving it a more balanced look. With a thickness of just 8.29 mm, the device is notably thinner than its predecessor, which improves ergonomics and comfort during prolonged use.

The Xiaomi offers the device in several color options to suit different styles, including starry green, white, black and purple. The green variant stands out for its finish with mineral particles that create a subtle and sophisticated metallic effect. Attention to detail extends to the volume buttons, which are now separate for more tactile and precise control. IP68 protection against water and dust is present in all versions, ensuring durability and safety in adverse environments.

Flat screen with cutting-edge technology

Abandoning the curved edges of previous generations, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra adopts a completely flat screen, a decision that prioritizes touch precision and distortion-free content viewing. The panel is built with M10 luminescent material, which, combined with an RGB pixel configuration, delivers vibrant colors and deep blacks at a resolution of 2608 x 1200 pixels.

Visibility outdoors is one of its strong points, with a peak brightness that reaches an impressive 3500 nits, making it easy to use in direct sunlight. LTPO technology allows the refresh rate to dynamically vary between 1 Hz and 120 Hz, optimizing power consumption by adapting to the content displayed on the screen.

To ensure durability, the display is protected by the new Xiaomi Crystal Glass 3.0, a glass designed to offer up to 20 times greater resistance against drops compared to conventional solutions, combining robustness with a high-quality visual experience.

Camera system with signature Leica

The photographic set is, without a doubt, the heart of Xiaomi 17 Ultra. The 50 MP main camera uses a 1-inch sensor with LOFIC (Lateral OverFlow Integration Capacitor) technology, which allows you to capture a higher dynamic range. Isso translates into more detailed images in both shadow and high-light areas, being especially effective in complex scenarios such as concerts or fireworks.

The big innovation is the 200 MP periscopic telephoto lens, which supports continuous optical zoom between 3x and 4.3x. Leica APO (apochromatic) certification ensures that chromatic aberrations are virtually eliminated, resulting in zoom images with impressive sharpness and color fidelity, even at long distances.

The system is complemented by a 50 MP ultra-wide camera for landscapes and group photos, and a 50 MP front sensor that ensures high-resolution selfies with precise focus. Image processing, improved by the partnership with Leica, optimizes night photos and portraits, delivering professional-looking results.

The special edition Leica elevates the experience even further by incorporating the Master Zoom Ring, a physical ring that allows the user to manually adjust zoom, exposure and white balance without having to touch the screen. The Essa version also has exclusive capture modes, such as “Leica Moment”, which captures photos in the classic 3:2 aspect ratio.

Performance driven by an elite chipset

At the core of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, a platform manufactured using the 3 nm process that sets a new level of performance. The advanced architecture delivers gains of up to 20% in CPU performance and 23% in GPU performance compared to the previous generation. Essa evolution is reflected in more fluid navigation, reduced application loading times and an immersive gaming experience, with complex graphics rendered effortlessly. Mesmo under heavy use, the chipset is designed to maintain optimized power consumption, preventing overheating and extending battery life. Memory configurations reach 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1 TB of UFS 4.1 storage, ensuring that the device can perform multiple heavy tasks simultaneously and perform large file transfers in seconds. The HyperOS 3.0 operating system, based on the latest version of Android, comes with built-in artificial intelligence capabilities to increase productivity and personalize the user experience.

Long battery life and advanced connectivity

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is equipped with a 6800 mAh battery, a capacity significantly greater than the average of current flagships. Essa autonomy is possible thanks to the use of silicon-carbon technology, which allows for greater energy density without increasing the volume or weight of the device, maintaining its slim and elegant design.

Availability and market strategy

Sales of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra officially began on December 27 in the Chinese market, with prices in line with other premium models in the segment. The special edition Leica, in turn, is sold at an additional price, justified by the exclusive accessories and advanced camera features it offers.

The global launch is expected to take place throughout 2026, allowing consumers in other regions to have access to the new photographic flagship. With this launch, the Xiaomi not only strengthens its position in the high-performance smartphone market, but also challenges direct competitors in the field of mobile photography, setting a new standard of quality and innovation.
