Honor’s new smartwatch innovates with 23-day autonomy and unprecedented heart risk detector

Honor Watch GS 5

The Honor redefines expectations for the smartwatch market with the official presentation of the Watch GS 5. The new device hits the market with the promise of establishing a new level of battery life, directly surpassing the main competitors with a continuous use capacity that can reach 23 days.

Initially launched on the Chinese market, the wearable stands out not only for the longevity of its charge, but also for introducing a pioneering health functionality. Trata features an advanced screening system for the risk of sudden cardiac arrest, a feature that reinforces the brand’s commitment to the preventive well-being of its users.

Combining a lightweight design, construction with high quality materials and a competitive price, the Watch GS 5 positions itself as a strong competitor in the premium segment. The model aims to attract consumers who seek both cutting-edge technology and practicality, eliminating the need for frequent charging, which is still a weak point of many popular models.

A new benchmark in energy autonomy

The main differentiator of the Honor Watch GS 5 lies in its impressive 495 mAh battery, which uses advanced silicon-carbon anode technology. Essa chemical composition allows for superior energy density and greater efficiency, resulting in autonomy that can reach up to 23 days in standard use mode. Esse performance puts the device far ahead of direct rivals, which often require weekly or even daily recharges. Para users who prefer to keep the screen always active, the autonomy is still remarkable, guaranteeing up to nine days of uninterrupted operation, a number that in itself already surpasses many smartwatches in economical mode.

This energy superiority transforms the user experience, eliminating battery-related anxiety and making the watch a truly reliable companion for long trips, expeditions or simply for those who forget to recharge their devices frequently. The practicality is complemented by a fast charging system: just five minutes connected to the magnetic charger are enough to provide energy for a full day of use, ensuring that the user is never disconnected for long. The MagicOS 9 operating system’s intelligent power management also helps optimize consumption, without sacrificing continuous health monitoring and connectivity.

Sophisticated design and everyday construction

The Honor Watch GS 5 is designed with a focus on comfort and elegance, adopting a classic 44mm circular body. The case is made from aluminum alloy, providing a premium finish and durability, while the thickness of just 9.9 mm and the weight of 26 grams (without the bracelet) make it one of the lightest and most comfortable models in its category for prolonged use, including while sleeping.

The back of the watch is made from fiber-reinforced polymer, a durable material that houses the advanced health sensors. The 1.32-inch AMOLED screen offers a vibrant and sharp visual experience, with a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels and a maximum brightness of 1500 nits, which guarantees excellent readability even in direct sunlight.

To ensure versatility, the device is IP68 certified and 5 ATM water resistant, allowing it to be used in water activities such as swimming in a pool or open water. Navigation through the interface is facilitated by a rotating crown and a physical button, which complement the touch control on the screen. The look is finished off with genuine leather straps, available in black and khaki.

Innovative cardiac risk screening

Aside from the battery, the Watch GS 5’s big advancement is in its health monitoring capabilities, especially with the introduction of a screening tool for sudden cardiac arrest risk. Este system, a first for the wearables industry, is not limited to measuring heart rate, but uses complex biomedical models to analyze the heart’s ability to slow down, a vital indicator of cardiovascular health. The algorithm evaluates subtle patterns and, if it detects anomalies that may suggest a high risk, it issues preventive alerts to the user, encouraging the search for medical evaluation. Essa proactive approach represents a significant step forward in using wearable technology to prevent serious conditions. The watch also continuously monitors heart rate, blood oxygen saturation (SpO2), stress levels and sleep quality, even detecting possible cases of apnea. The platform integrates all this data to generate complete and personalized health reports, with recommendations to improve your lifestyle.

Smart features and connectivity

The Honor Watch GS 5 is a complete device that goes beyond monitoring health and physical activities.

Equipped with a microphone and speaker, the watch supports calls via Bluetooth directly from your wrist, offering convenience when your smartphone is not within reach.

For athletes and outdoor enthusiasts, the smartwatch offers more than 100 sports modes and a precise positioning system, compatible with five major satellite systems (GNSS), ensuring reliable route and distance tracking.

Connectivity is reinforced by the presence of NFC for contactless payments and other features. The MagicOS 9 operating system provides a fluid and intuitive interface, complemented by an AI-based voice assistant and smart reminders for appointments and trips.

Availability and starting price

The smartwatch is now available for purchase in the Chinese market, with a launch price of 699 yuan.

This value, in direct conversion and without taxes, is equivalent to approximately R$550, positioning the device in an extremely competitive way.

Outlook for the global market

While there is still no official confirmation on a global launch date, Honor’s recent strategy suggests that expansion into other markets, including Europa and América Latina, is likely to occur in the coming months. The expectation is that the Watch GS 5 will officially reach the Brasil in 2026, potentially becoming one of the most attractive cost-benefit options in the premium smartwatch segment.

The sales package includes the watch, a genuine leather strap and the magnetic charging cable. The company also promises ongoing software updates to add new functionality and improve health algorithms, keeping the device relevant and competitive in the long term.

Positioning against main competitors

The Honor Watch GS 5 enters a competitive market, but arrives with clear advantages over established models. Compared to the Galaxy Watch and Samsung line, which offers strong integration into the Android ecosystem, the Honor model stands out drastically in battery life. Enquanto Samsung watches usually require recharging every day or two, the GS 5 eliminates this concern.

Compared to the Apple Watch, a reference in features and ecosystem, the battery advantage is even more pronounced. Mesmo the Apple Watch Ultra, designed for endurance athletes, does not come close to the autonomy of the GS 5 in everyday use. The former home of the Honor,
