Millions of workers across the country must pay attention to the new guidelines for paying the PIS/Pasep salary bonus, one of the most anticipated benefits annually. The rules, which take the period worked in the previous year as a reference, were detailed by the government and establish the eligibility criteria, the withdrawal schedule and the amounts to be distributed. The main function of the bonus is to serve as an income supplement for formal workers, both in the private sector and in the public sector, who fit into specific remuneration profiles. The organization of payments is essential to ensure that the resources reach beneficiaries in an orderly manner, following a schedule that aims to avoid congestion in banking systems and facilitate citizens’ access to their rights.

The benefit plays a crucial role in boosting the economy, injecting resources directly into family consumption and boosting local commerce. For this reason, clearly defining the rules and widely disseminating the calendar are essential steps in the process.

The expectation is that the official schedule will be released on government communication channels, allowing workers to plan in advance to withdraw the amounts.

Details about benefit calculation

The value of the salary bonus is calculated proportionally to the number of months worked during the base year, with the ceiling being the value of a minimum wage in force on the date of payment. Para the 2026 payment cycle, for example, the reference value is the national floor established for the same year, set at R$1,621. The logic behind the calculation is simple: each month of formal service corresponds to 1/12 of the minimum wage. Dessa way, a worker who worked for just one month in the base year will receive R$ 135.08. If the period worked was six months, the value increases to R$810.50. The right to the full amount of R$1,621 is only granted to those who maintained a formal employment relationship during the 12 months of the base year. It is important to highlight that the proportionality rule is strict, and even if the calculation exceeds the minimum wage ceiling, the amount paid will be limited to this amount, ensuring equitable distribution of the benefit among those eligible.

Essential requirements for eligibility

To access the salary bonus, it is not enough to have worked in the base year. The worker must cumulatively comply with a series of criteria defined by legislation. Failure to meet any of these requirements automatically prevents you from receiving the benefit.

The first criterion is the length of time you have been enrolled in the program. It is necessary to be registered with PIS (for private sector workers) or with Pasep (for public servants) for at least five years. Esse requisito garante que o benefício seja direcionado a trabalhadores com maior tempo de inserção no mercado formal.

Furthermore, the worker must have carried out paid work with a formal contract for at least 30 days, whether consecutive or not, during the base year. Esse minimum period of work formalizes the relationship that generates the right to the allowance.

Another fundamental point concerns remuneration. The worker’s average monthly salary during the period worked in the base year cannot have exceeded the value of two minimum wages. Este income criterion ensures that the allowance fulfills its social function of supplementing the budget of those who need it most.

The importance of updating registration

One of the most critical points to guarantee receipt of the salary bonus is the correction of the worker’s information in government systems. The primary responsibility for this update lies with the employer, who must send their employees’ data correctly through Relação Anual of Informações Sociais (RAIS) or eSocial.

Any discrepancy, such as an error in the CPF number, date of birth or the PIS/Pasep registration number itself, may create an impediment to payment. Workers can check the status of their data through the Carteira de Trabalho Digital (CTPS Digital) application and, if they identify any inconsistencies, they must request rectification from their employer.

Organization of the payment schedule

The release of salary bonus resources follows a structured calendar to organize the flow of payments and facilitate access for workers. Para PIS beneficiaries, linked to private companies, the payment criterion is the month of birth. Withdrawals are released in monthly batches, generally starting in February and lasting until the end of the year. Essa methodology distributes demand over several months, avoiding overloads on the Caixa Econômica Federal service network.

In the case of Pasep, intended for public servants, the organization is different. The calendar is set based on the final digit of the server’s program enrollment number. Payments are managed by Banco of Brasil and also occur in a staggered manner. In both cases, the federal government publishes the complete calendar in advance, allowing beneficiaries to consult the exact date on which the amount will be available for withdrawal or credit to their account.

Digital channels for consulting information

Technology has considerably facilitated access to information about PIS/Pasep. Atualmente, workers have several digital platforms to check whether they are entitled to the benefit, the amount to be received and when payment will be made. Esses official channels are the safest way to obtain data, avoiding fraud and inconsistent information.

The Caixa Trabalhador application is one of the main tools for PIS beneficiaries. Nele, it is possible to consult the payment schedule, the amount of the allowance and check the status of the benefit. Outra option is the Caixa Tem application, which in addition to allowing consultation, also works as a digital account for receiving the amount.

For public servants, information from Pasep can be consulted directly on the Banco and Brasil service channels, including the institution’s website and application. Adicionalmente, the portal Gov.br centralizes information and allows consultation through Carteira of Trabalho Digital.

Fundamental differences between PIS and Pasep

Although they are programs with the same objective of paying a salary bonus, PIS and Pasep serve different audiences and are operated by different financial institutions. Entender this distinction is essential so that workers know where to look for information and how to receive their benefit.

The Programa of Integração Social (PIS) is aimed exclusively at workers in the private sector, governed by the Consolidação of the Leis of the Trabalho (CLT). The paying agent responsible for managing and transferring PIS amounts is Caixa Econômica Federal. Já o Programa of Formação of Patrimônio of The management and payment of Pasep are the responsibility of Banco of Brasil.
