Xiaomi has officially confirmed that its latest high-end smartphone, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, will be launched in international markets. The information was released by Xu Fei, vice-president of the group, who highlighted the device’s arrival at the beginning of 2026. The model, which was already presented at China, will reach the global public with the same focus on advanced photography, but will present a strategic change in its battery capacity, adapting to the regulations and demands of different regions.

Expectations surrounding the device are high, mainly due to its partnership with the renowned photography brand Leica. The announcement solidifies Xiaomi’s intention to compete directly with the main players in the premium segment, such as Apple and Samsung, on a global scale. The device promises to deliver a set of robust specifications, maintaining most of the features that made it a success in its home market, with emphasis on the processor performance and screen quality.

While the Ultra version and the base model are confirmed for international expansion, the company will maintain the exclusivity of other variants, such as the Xiaomi 17 Pro and the 17 Pro Max, in the Chinese market. Essa segmented launch strategy allows the manufacturer to focus its marketing and distribution efforts on products with the greatest potential for global appeal, reinforcing its presence in a highly competitive sector. Preparation for launch is already underway, with certifications being obtained in several countries.

The powerful Leica camera system maintained

The main attraction of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra remains intact in its global version: the sophisticated camera system co-developed with the Leica. The photographic set is led by a 50-megapixel main sensor with an inch in physical size, a feature that places it at an elite level when it comes to capturing light and details, especially in low-light conditions. Essa technology allows the production of images with greater depth of field and less noise, bringing the quality of mobile photography closer to that of dedicated professional cameras. Além of the main sensor, the device impresses with a 200-megapixel periscopic telephoto lens, which offers high-precision variable optical zoom. Essa combination allows users to capture distant objects with exceptional clarity without the loss of quality associated with digital zoom. The partnership with Leica is not limited to hardware, it also extends to image processing software, which includes filters and color modes that emulate the German brand’s classic aesthetics, offering a differentiated and artistic photographic experience.

Strategic adjustment in battery capacity

The main difference between the Chinese model and the global one lies in the battery. Enquanto the original Chinese version is equipped with a 6,800 mAh cell, information extracted from the HyperOS operating system code indicates that the international model will have a capacity of 6,000 mAh. Essa reduction is a common practice for Xiaomi and other manufacturers, often driven by the need to comply with different safety and certification standards in international markets, as well as to optimize the component supply chain.

Despite the nominal decrease, the device’s autonomy should not be significantly compromised. The Xiaomi maintained support for 90W fast wired charging, ensuring that the device can be recharged in just a few minutes. Adicionalmente, energy efficiency is one of the pillars of the project, which features the latest generation processor Snapdragon 8

Unchanged cutting-edge performance and display

The global Xiaomi 17 Ultra will maintain the high-performance screen seen in the Chinese version. The 6.9-inch AMOLED panel offers WQHD+ resolution, providing sharp, detailed images for media consumption and gaming.

One of the highlights of the display is its maximum brightness, which reaches 3,500 nits, ensuring excellent visibility even in direct sunlight. Protection is provided by Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0, which provides greater resistance against scratches and impacts.

Internally, the device will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, accompanied by memory configurations that can reach 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1 TB of internal storage in the UFS 4.1 standard, ensuring fluidity and speed in any task.

Robust construction and advanced connectivity

The durability of the device is a strong point, with multiple resistance certifications. The Xiaomi 17

In the field of connectivity, the smartphone is prepared for the future. Ele supports Wi-Fi 7, the latest generation of wireless networks, which promises higher speeds and lower latency.

The list of connection technologies is complemented by Bluetooth 5.4 and NFC for contactless payments and quick pairing with other devices.

For high-quality selfies and video calls, the front camera has a 50 megapixel sensor. The operating system will be HyperOS 3, based on Android, with artificial intelligence optimizations to improve the user experience.

Launch strategy and global market

The official presentation of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra for the international market is expected to take place by the end of the first quarter of 2026.

This strategy positions the device to compete directly with flagships from other technology giants, targeting the segment of consumers who seek maximum performance and, above all, photographic quality. The arrival of the device accelerates the interest of technology enthusiasts outside of China.

What to expect from the new Xiaomi flagship

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra positions itself as one of the most robust options for those who value photography on an Android smartphone. The combination of cutting-edge hardware with Leica’s expertise creates a product with high appeal for content creators and demanding users.

Adapting the battery to the global market is a technical adjustment that reflects the complexity of international launches, but is offset by a hardware and software ecosystem focused on efficiency. Detalhes about prices and exact dates of availability in different countries have yet to be officially announced by the company.

Expanded ecosystem with new accessories

Along with the smartphone, Xiaomi plans to globally launch other products that make up its ecosystem. Entre expected accessories are the Watch 5 smart watch and the Buds 6 wireless headphones.
