Samsung starts testing Android 17 and reveals which Galaxy phones will receive the new interface

South Korean giant Samsung has accelerated the development process for its next major operating system update, with server logs indicating that internal testing phases are now in full swing. The movement behind the scenes in mobile technology suggests a concerted effort to align software with the capabilities of the latest hardware, prioritizing optimization for the brand’s premium line. The new interface promises to integrate advanced artificial intelligence features, aiming to elevate the user experience to a new level of interactivity and efficiency.

The company’s software engineers work on adapting the native features of the Android 17, whose base code serves as the foundation for the manufacturer’s proprietary customization. The current focus is on system stability, a fundamental requirement to ensure that new neural processing tools do not negatively impact battery life or navigation fluidity. The cycle follows the company’s rigorous standard, which seeks to harmonize the launch of new devices with the availability of mature software.

Market analysts point out that the validation stage is critical to defining the final global distribution schedule. With the growing demand for longevity in smartphones, the eligibility list has become a deciding purchasing factor for consumers. Testing schedule and expected debut

The leaked preliminary roadmap points to the start of the public beta phase in May, when users registered in test programs will be able to access the first builds of the system. Priority models and extended support

The current Galaxy S26 family is at the top of the priority list and has already been detected on test servers running the first builds of the new interface. The technical decision aims to preserve the user experience, preventing heavy software from causing slowdowns or overheating on devices with outdated processing architectures. The list of devices that will not receive Android 17 includes:

– Galaxy S22, S22 Plus and S22 Ultra;
– Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4;
– Galaxy S21 FE;
– Galaxy A53 and intermediates prior to 2023.

Innovations in artificial intelligence and multitasking

The next iteration of the proprietary interface promises to transform everyday interaction with mobile devices, focusing heavily on productivity and AI. One of the main new features will be the integration of summary and translation tools directly into the native browser, operating with local processing to ensure greater privacy and faster response, without relying exclusively on the cloud.

In addition to text features, the update will bring significant visual refinements. The animation system has been rewritten to offer greater fluidity and responsiveness to touch, eliminating stutters when transitioning between applications. Real-time window resizing has also received improvements, facilitating multitasking on large screens, such as tablets and foldables, bringing the mobile experience closer to the versatility of a desktop.
