The emulation-oriented portable device industry has just received the official announcement of new hardware that seeks to combine aesthetic nostalgia with cutting-edge processing. The manufacturer revealed the RG477V model, a device that revives the vertical format popularized by notebooks from the 1990s, but which integrates modern internal components to run more demanding game libraries, overcoming the limitations of previous generations.

The main highlight of the equipment lies in its processing capacity, designed to handle systems that historically require a lot of hardware, such as the PlayStation 2 and the Wii U.

To ensure stability during prolonged heavy gaming sessions, the product engineering included an active cooling system. The presence of an internal fan allows the chipset to operate at higher frequencies for longer without suffering from overheating, a common problem in compact devices that try to run desktop console emulators.

Technical specifications and firepower

The heart of the RG477V is the MediaTek Dimensity 8300 processor, a chipset built using 4-nanometer lithography. Este component has eight cores that can reach speeds of up to 3.35 GHz, working in conjunction with an Mali-G615 MC6 graphics processing unit. Esta configuration is significantly higher than that found on most current vertical notebooks, offering performance headroom for resolution upscaling in older games.

In terms of memory, the device uses the LPDDR5 standard, ensuring high speed data transfer. Consumers will be able to choose variants with 8 GB or 12 GB of RAM. The internal storage follows the UFS standard, with options of 128 GB or 256 GB, and this capacity can be expanded by up to 2 TB via a microSD card slot, allowing the storage of extensive game libraries.

The operating system chosen to manage all this hardware is Android 14. Choosing a recent version of the Google system ensures native compatibility with the most popular emulators on the market, such as NetherSX2 and Dolphin, in addition to allowing access to games native to the mobile platform that require high graphics performance.

Nostalgic display and visual experience

The screen is one of the central points of the design, adopting a 4:3 aspect ratio, which is the original format of most tube televisions and retro consoles. The panel uses 4.7-inch LTPS In-Cell technology with a resolution of 1280×960 pixels. Essa pixel density allows for sharp rendering and makes it easy to apply filters that simulate the scan lines of CRT monitors without significant loss of visual quality.

An important difference for gameplay is the refresh rate of 120 Hz. Além provides more fluid animations in the system interface, this frequency helps to reduce input latency (input lag), making the response to commands more immediate, something crucial for action and fighting games that require millimeter precision.

Ergonomics and energy autonomy

The construction of the device received special attention in the controls. The analogues use Hall Effect technology, which uses magnetism to detect movement, eliminating the risk of “drift” (phantom movements) and increasing the durability of the components. On the back, four extra programmable buttons have been added, offering more mapping options for modern games that use a lot of commands.

To support the powerful hardware, a 5300 mAh battery has been incorporated. Estimates indicate that this capacity can offer up to seven hours of continuous use, depending on the intensity of processing required by the software. Charging is done via the USB-C port with support for 27W fast recharging, minimizing the time the device needs to be connected to the socket.

Release forecast and values

The launch strategy foresees the opening of pre-sales for December 2025, with the first units being sent to buyers in the first quarter of 2026. The suggested price for the entry model should be around 229 dollars, positioning it competitively against direct rivals from brands such as Ayaneo and Retroid.

The device will hit the market in two finishing options: a translucent black version, which allows you to see the internal components, and a classic gray version, which directly refers to the aesthetics of laptops from the 80s and 90s. With these specifications, the model seeks to establish a new performance standard for the vertical format in the emulation market.
