Samsung has started the process of rolling out the One UI 8.5 update based on Android 16 to various Galaxy models, focusing on advanced battery optimization and energy efficiency for users of older and newer devices. The South Korean company releases the software package gradually over-the-air, initially prioritizing the premium line such as the Galaxy S26, which leaves the factory with the new version. Essa update integrates artificial intelligence tools for power management, restructuring background processes and making better use of existing hardware.

The rollout began in February 2026 with the launch of the S26 series and moves into March for devices like the Galaxy S25 and recent foldables. The update aims to correct excessive consumption observed in previous versions, applying algorithms that learn daily usage patterns to reduce drainage without compromising performance. Usuários report noticeable gains in autonomy, especially in mixed-use scenarios with heavy apps and constant connectivity.

Release occurs remotely via Samsung servers, allowing automatic or manual installation in device configurations. Eligible Modelos include series S, Z and select A from past generations, with sequential scheduling to avoid server overload.

Main improvements in battery management

One UI 8.5 introduces Adaptive Battery 3.0, which analyzes user habits to intelligently limit background activities. Esse system promises up to two extra hours of use with the same battery capacity, thanks to optimizations in the kernel and RAM management.

The new Network Battery Saver detects periods of inactivity, such as during sleep, and reduces network performance to minimize consumption. Essa functionality uses personal data intelligence to apply automatic limits, preserving essential connectivity when needed.

Beta users report smoother transitions and less aggressive app closing, which contributes to greater overall stability. The update also refines the maximum saving mode, limiting CPU to 70% and disabling features like Always On Display in critical situations.

Rollout schedule and priority devices

The Samsung plans update waves throughout March and April 2026. The Galaxy S26 series receives the stable version from launch in February, followed by the S25, Z Fold 7, and Z Flip 7 in March.

Older devices like the Galaxy S24 and Z Fold 6 enter the second wave in April and May. Modelos line A intermediaries and Tab S11 tablets are also confirmed to receive the package.

The process follows hardware compatibility criteria, ensuring that chips with neural processing support make the most of the new features. The company emphasizes internal testing for stability before global expansion.

New interface and general performance

UX Engine 2.0 speeds up interface rendering by up to 30%, making animations and app opening more fluid even on previous generation devices. Isso complements battery optimizations by reducing processor load during everyday tasks.

Galaxy AI features gain refinements, with a focus on local execution for less dependence on the cloud and consequent energy savings. The interface adopts dynamic blur elements, improving readability without significant impact on consumption.

Multitasking on foldables receives specific adjustments for transitioning between screens, optimizing resource allocation and avoiding spikes in energy use.

How to install the update

Go to Configurações > Software Atualização > Baixar and install to check availability. The download occurs in the background and installation requires a restart, recommended during low usage times.

Keep your device connected to the stable Wi-Fi network and at least 50% battery to avoid interruptions. Após installation, the system performs initial optimizations that may take a few minutes.

Users should review app permissions post-update to maximize power-saving benefits.

Benefits for long-time users

Devices from 2024 and 2025 gain extra momentum with the rewriting of energy management codes. Isso extends the device’s useful cycle, reducing the need for frequent changes.

The update reinforces privacy by limiting unnecessary background access, aligning efficiency with security. Consumidores notice less heating during prolonged use.

Samsung remains committed to long-term support, delivering improvements even years after the models’ original launch.
