The Mitsubishi launched the hybrid version of the Xforce on the Asian market with consumption of up to 24.4 km/l and advanced energy efficiency technologies.

The Japanese automaker unveiled the new hybrid compact sports utility vehicle at Tailândia, where the model is produced locally at the Laem Chabang factory. The vehicle comes with the e:Motion system, which combines a combustion engine and electric propulsion to offer high fuel economy and reduced emissions. The premiere took place in March 2025, with reservations starting immediately and public screening at Bangkok International Motor Show. The focus is on emerging markets on the Asian continent, where electric charging infrastructure is still limited, making the non-plug-in hybrid a practical option for the gradual transition to electrification.

The Xforce HEV measures 4.39 meters in length, with a wheelbase of 2.65 meters, and a ground clearance of 183 millimeters, suitable for urban use and light irregular roads. It is front-wheel drive, and the model accommodates five occupants with reasonable comfort in the cabin.

The powertrain uses a 1.6 liter MIVEC Atkinson cycle gasoline engine, which acts mainly as a generator, associated with an 85 kW electric motor. Combined power reaches 114 horsepower, with a maximum torque of 255 Nm provided instantly by the electrical component. Essa configuration guarantees agile acceleration in urban environments and quick responses at traffic lights.

The lithium-ion battery has a capacity of 1.1 kWh and recharges automatically through regenerative braking. Não there is a need for an external plug-in, which simplifies daily use. The system includes a two-speed transaxle to optimize efficiency at different speeds and an electric motor disconnect function at high cruise, reducing energy losses.

Declared consumption reaches 24.4 km/l in a mixed cycle, positioning the model as one of the most economical in its category in the Asian market. Essa brand results from refinements in the thermal engine, which achieves thermal efficiency greater than 40%, and intelligent energy management.

Design and dimensions adapted to regional use

The bodywork maintains the brand’s typical robust lines, with a shield-shaped front grille and full-LED headlights. The 18-inch wheels and larger diameter tires contribute to better aerodynamics and stability on uneven surfaces.

The suspension was adjusted to support the extra weight of the batteries without compromising comfort. The model preserves versatility features for Asian roads, including specific driving modes for varied conditions.

Internal technology and connectivity

The interior has an 8-inch digital panel behind the steering wheel and a 12.3-inch central screen for the multimedia system. The interface allows smartphone mirroring and displays real-time information about hybrid power flow.

The finish mixes resistant fabrics and soft-touch plastics in areas of frequent contact. Comandos essential physical remains for quick air conditioning and volume adjustments.

A premium audio system developed in partnership with Yamaha distributes speakers throughout the cabin, with digital processing that adjusts equalization according to speed to compensate for external noise.

Driving modes and dynamic control

Seven driving modes are available via selector on the center console. Eles adapts throttle response, steering and traction for dry, wet asphalt, dirt, gravel and low-grip situations.

The Active Yaw Control vectors torque through selective braking on the front wheels, improving cornering precision. Essa technology derives from the brand’s rally models and reduces understeer during maneuvers.

Security package Diamond Sense

The vehicle incorporates autonomous emergency braking with vehicle and pedestrian detection via radar and cameras. Adaptive cruise control maintains a safe distance from the vehicle in front.

Blind spot monitoring and lane keeping assistant complete the driver assistance. The structure uses ultra-high-strength steels to absorb impacts in collisions.

Production and after-sales strategy at Tailândia

Manufacturing takes place at the Laem Chabang plant, which benefits from tax incentives for electrified vehicles. Export is planned for other Sudeste Asiático countries, where demand for hybrid options is growing.

The dealership network receives specific training for high voltage systems. Revisions follow a similar schedule to combustion models, with less wear on brakes thanks to regeneration.

The hybrid battery warranty is extended to ten years, reinforcing confidence in the durability of the electrical package.

Competition and positioning in the Asian market

The Xforce HEV competes directly with models such as the Honda HR-V e:HEV and Toyota Yaris Cross hybrid, offering similar efficiency and an affordable price in the local range. The base version starts at around 899,000 Thai baht.

The brand expands its electrified line in the region, after launches such as the Xpander HEV. The model serves consumers who prioritize savings without depending on external recharging.

The Mitsubishi Xforce HEV represents progress in the automaker’s electrification strategy for emerging Asian markets.
