Samsung has started distributing the One UI 8.5 update, based on Android 16, for several Galaxy models, focusing on performance optimizations and improvements in battery life. The new version arrives through over-the-air (OTA) updates in regional phases, starting with the most recent devices, such as the Galaxy S26 line, and gradually extending to previously compatible devices. The South Korean manufacturer highlights advances in artificial intelligence integrated into the hardware, more efficient neural processing and visual refinements that increase the fluidity of the system.

The update prioritizes the user experience by integrating AI resources directly into the devices’ processing, which allows faster operations in complex tasks without compromising energy consumption. Samsung sends packages in batches to avoid overloading servers, ensuring stability during installation. Usuários need to access software Configurações > Atualização to check availability and proceed with the download.

One UI 8.5 brings interface refinements that combine more modern visual elements with practical functionalities, maintaining compatibility with the Galaxy ecosystem.

Start of phased distribution

The rollout started with the recently launched flagships, including the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra, which already leave the factory with the stable version. Dispositivos as well as Galaxy S25 series receive the update in initial waves starting March/April 2026.

Foldable models, such as Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, are also included in the first wave of compatibility. Samsung plans to expand into mid-range lines and tablets in subsequent months.

The regional phasing strategy minimizes disruptions and allows for quick fixes based on early feedback.

Battery-specific optimizations

Samsung focused efforts on energy management with the inclusion of tools such as Network Battery Saver, which limits network use when the device detects inactivity, such as during sleep, reducing unnecessary consumption. Essa function uses personal data intelligence to adapt the device’s behavior to the user’s pattern.

The battery menu has been redesigned to display clear percentages and visual indicators of saving modes, making monitoring easier. Recursos Enhanced power saving features put apps into automatic deep sleep when they detect excessive usage or intrusive ads.

These changes aim to extend battery life in real-world everyday usage scenarios, especially on devices with AI-optimized hardware.

Advances in artificial intelligence and performance

The integration of neural processing into compatible hardware allows AI tasks to occur more fluidly and locally, without relying so much on the cloud. Recursos how AI notification summaries and advanced photo edits gain expanded support.

The update incorporates refinements from Android 16 QPR2, including improvements to expanded dark themes and lock screen widgets. The interface gains visual layers with glass and depth effects, making navigation more immersive.

These enhancements maintain compatibility with existing apps while increasing overall system responsiveness.

List of eligible devices and timeline

Samsung confirms that the majority of devices that received One UI 8 will also be covered with 8.5, following the extended support policy. Premium Linhas like S24, S23, and earlier foldables come in later waves.

Mid-range devices from the A and M series, in addition to Tab S tablets, are expected in April/May 2026 or beyond, depending on the region. Usuários can check eligibility in the Samsung Members app or directly in settings.

Distribution occurs automatically, without the need for physical connections.

Visual improvements and usability

One UI 8.5 adopts design elements that refine quick icons and panels, with broader customization options. The Quick Panel allows intuitive rearrangements for quick access to essential functions.

Native apps receive layout updates, such as search positioned at the bottom in settings and file manager. Softer Animações contribute to a feeling of lightness in daily use.

These adjustments aim to balance modern aesthetics with everyday practicality.

Focus on privacy and additional features

Enhanced protection tools include toggles for theft prevention and greater isolation of personal data. Quick Share gains automatic suggestions based on face detection in photos.

The update strengthens support for fast NFC transfers and pollen tracking in health apps. Todos features aim for greater user control over data and connectivity.

Samsung maintains its commitment to longevity by delivering these improvements in regular cycles.
