Honor carried out an unusual durability test during the launch of the Magic V6 at China. A product manager at the company performed fixed bars hanging exclusively from the foldable smartphone, using the hinge as the only point of attachment to the ceiling. The device supported the full body weight without showing any signs of deformation, cracking or failure in the mechanism or display.

The experiment took place on the stage of the device’s official presentation event. The action highlighted the capacity of the new Super Shield Steel hinge, manufactured from 2800 MPa aerospace-grade steel. Esse material allows the cell phone to withstand mechanical loads far above normal daily use.

The physical demonstration complemented previous videos released by Honor. Neles, the same model was used as a support on a zip line to transport an adult over a lake. Esses extreme tests seek to eliminate doubts about the typical fragility of foldable smartphones.

Advanced materials in hinge construction

The Honor Magic V6’s hinge uses high-strength steel that costs twice as much as titanium in production. Esse component integrates with a carbon fiber support layer positioned directly under the OLED panel. The architecture distributes the applied stress and preserves the integrity of the ultra-thin UTG glass even under intense tension.

The mechanism was subjected to laboratory tests that confirmed resistance to 500,000 bending cycles. Essa mark is equivalent to approximately seven years of frequent use, considering multiple openings and closings per day. The Honor positions this longevity as a competitive differentiator in the segment.

Main technical characteristics of the device

The Honor Magic V6 features the following key specifications:

  • Internal screen: 7.95-inch OLED with 2352×2172 pixel resolution and LTPO rate of 120 Hz
  • Maximum internal brightness: 5,000 nits and PWM of 4320 Hz for visual comfort
  • External screen: 6.52-inch OLED with 6,000 nits brightness and anti-glare coating
  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Supreme Edition
  • Memory: 12GB or 16GB RAM with 256GB, 512GB or 1TB storage
  • Battery: 7,150 mAh with 80W wired and 66W wireless fast charging
  • Rear cameras: 50 MP main with OIS, 50 MP ultrawide and 64 MP periscope telephoto with CIPA 6.5 stabilization

These configurations position the model among the most advanced foldables on the current market.

Superior water protection

The Magic V6 boasts IP68 and IP69 certifications at the same time. IP68 resists total dust and immersion in fresh water up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. IP69 protects against high pressure and high temperature jets, a rare standard for devices with moving parts and exposed hinges.

Honor validated these protections in live demonstrations during launch. The device maintained all operational functions even after controlled exposure to extreme conditions. Essa characteristic reinforces the manufacturer’s confidence in the overall robustness of the product.

Strategy to gain consumer trust

Honor transformed the Magic V6 into makeshift gym equipment during the event. The product manager hung from the device attached to the ceiling by a simple structure, without extra supports or edits in the video. The display and hinge remained intact throughout the demonstration.

This visual approach directly addresses the main barrier perceived by foldable consumers. By subjecting hardware to abuse that goes beyond actual use, the company attempts to shift the focus of the discussion from fine design to proven structural reliability. The model measures just 4.35 mm thick when opened, but prioritizes mechanical resistance.

The Honor Magic V6 is now available on the Chinese market. Expansion to other countries, including Brasil, should occur in the coming months, accompanied by high expectations regarding the demonstrated durability.
