Apple launched the iPhone 17e with doubled storage and maintained price, expanding access to advanced AI features in the entry-level model. The device arrives on the Japanese market with reservations starting on March 4th and sales starting on March 11th, maintaining the initial price of 99,800 yen for the 256 GB version. Apple introduced the new soft pink color, in addition to white and black options, and incorporated MagSafe support for the first time in this line, allowing for faster wireless charging.

The device maintains the notch on the screen, without adopting the Dynamic Island present in superior models. The framework preserves the Action button on the left side, but deletes the Camera Control on the right. Essas choices aim to balance cost and essential features for the public looking for an affordable iPhone with significant updates compared to its predecessor.

Expanded storage without price adjustment

The main new feature of the iPhone 17e is twice the base storage compared to the iPhone 16e. The previous model offered 128GB for the same starting price, while the new one starts at 256GB. The 512GB variant costs 134,800 yen, representing an effective 10,000 yen reduction from what would be expected with the capacity increase.

This strategy reinforces the device’s competitiveness in the entry-level segment. Consumidores gain more space for photos, videos and applications without impacting the final value, which should boost sales in price-sensitive markets.

The decision aligns with the gradual evolution of the line and, at the same time, differentiates the product from more expensive options in the iPhone 17 family.

OLED screen with improved protection

The 6.1-inch OLED Super Retina XDR screen continues with a refresh rate of 60 Hz, without features such as ProMotion or always-on display. Brightness reaches 800 nits in standard use and 1,200 nits in HDR content, ensuring good visibility in different light conditions.

Ceramic Shield protection has been updated to version 2, offering scratch resistance up to three times greater than the previous generation. Reflection control has also received improvements, reducing discomfort in bright environments.

These updates maintain the focus on everyday durability without increasing the cost of the product.

48 MP main camera and advanced features

The main rear camera adopts a 48 MP Fusion sensor with f/1.6 aperture, optical stabilization and hybrid pixels for focusing. The system allows captures in 24 MP or 48 MP, with optical zoom equivalent to 2x per crop and up to 10x digital.

Portrait mode gains depth control and more precise focus, making post-capture adjustments easier. The 12 MP TrueDepth front camera includes f/1.9 aperture and autofocus, improving selfies and video calls.

The set delivers photographic quality aligned with the model’s positioning, prioritizing versatility without excessive complexity.

A19 chip and compatibility with Apple Intelligence

The iPhone 17e features the A19 processor, shared with the standard iPhone 17, but with a four-core GPU — one less than the main variant. The difference in performance proves to be minimal in everyday use, such as browsing, social networks and multitasking.

Full support for Apple Intelligence enables artificial intelligence features, including improvements to Siri and creation of custom emojis. Future Atualizações should expand these capabilities with advanced model integration.

The C1X modem offers double the speed and efficiency compared to the previous one, with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 completing the connectivity.

Extended battery and optimized charging

Autonomy reaches 26 hours of local video playback and 21 hours of streaming. Fast charging reaches 50% in 30 minutes with a 20W or higher adapter.

MagSafe support boosts wireless charging to up to 15W, up from 7.5W on the previous model. The USB-C port operates at 480Mbps, maintaining broad compatibility.

These advancements meet demands for longer life and convenience without changing the compact form factor.

eSIM connectivity and security features

O iPhone 17e adota eSIM dual exclusivo, eliminando o slot físico para cartão SIM. Essa transição segue a tendência da linha iPhone 17 e melhora a resistência à água e poeira.

Functions such as satellite SOS and emergency messages remain available. The combination ensures reliable connectivity in remote areas.

The design prioritizes simplicity and security integrated into the Apple ecosystem.
