Stellantis renews 2.0 turbo Hurricane EVO engine with F1 ignition and reaches 337 hp

The Stellantis features a significant update to its 2.0 turbo engine Hurricane 4, now called Hurricane 4 EVO. The Este engine, which originally debuted in the Alfa Romeo Giulia in 2016, now incorporates advanced technologies, including an ignition system inspired by the Fórmula 1, increasing its power to an impressive 337 hp and 45.9 kgfm of torque, with the aim of surpassing the competition in its category.

Initially launched on the North American market to equip versions of the Jeep Grand Cherokee 2026, the Hurricane 4 EVO demonstrates the automaker’s commitment to innovation and high performance. The expectation is that this engine will soon be expanded to other models in the group and reach global distribution, following in the footsteps of its predecessor version.

In the Brasil, the 2.0 turbo engine is already a key component in vehicles such as the Jeep Compass, the Jeep Commander and the Ram Rampage pickup truck, where it delivers 272 hp of power and 40.8 kgfm of torque. The arrival of the EVO version promises to further raise the level of performance and energy efficiency for the brand’s vehicles.

Advanced ignition technologies

One of the pillars of the transformation of the Hurricane 4 EVO is the adoption of the jet ignition system, called Turbulent Jet Ignition (TJI).
