Apple began the testing cycle for beta versions of the main operating systems this Monday, making the initial builds available to registered developers. Updates include iOS 26.5, iPadOS 26.5, macOS Tahoe 26.5, watchOS 26.5, tvOS 26.5, HomePod software 26.5, and visionOS 26.5.

These versions arrive a week after the release of the 26.4 updates to the general public and mainly bring bug fixes, security patches and preparations for future features. Desenvolvedores can download the files through the Ajustes app on compatible devices or through the Apple developer portal.

  • iOS 26.5 and iPadOS 26.5 Build: 23F5043g
  • macOS Build Tahoe 26.5:25F5042g
  • watchOS 26.5, tvOS 26.5 and HomePod Builds: 23T and 23L series
  • visionOS 26.5 Build: 23O5441g

The release also covers the Xcode 26.5 beta and Release Candidate security update versions for macOS Sequoia 15.7.6 and macOS Sonoma 14.8.6.

Initial changes to the app Maps

iOS 26.5 introduces the Lugares Sugeridos feature in the Maps app, which recommends locations based on nearby trends and recent user searches. Essa functionality sets the stage for local ads to be shown in the summer.

Companies will be able to buy advertising space that will appear in search results and suggestions, always identified with the clear “ad” label. The code indicates that ads will consider approximate location, search terms or map view.

This implementation follows regulatory adjustments and aims to expand monetization options in the maps service without drastically changing the current user experience.

Continuity in RCS encryption testing

The beta version continues end-to-end encryption testing for RCS messages exchanged between iPhones and Android devices. The feature, which had been removed before the release of iOS 26.4, is now enabled by default in the Mensagens app settings.

Encrypted conversations display a lock icon, although the functionality remains in the testing phase and is not available for all devices or operators. Mensagens iMessage between iPhones already has long-standing native encryption.

Security updates and fixes

The new betas include kernel and WebKit patches that fix several security vulnerabilities. Relatos Developer initials mention improvements in stability and resolution of application crashes.

The main focus of these point releases is usually on refining performance and preparing for more robust releases in the future. Não There are signs of major artificial intelligence capabilities or profound changes in Siri this stage.

Developer Readiness

Apple recommends that developers test their applications on new versions to ensure compatibility before public release. Xcode 26.5 beta has also been released to support the new features of the updated SDKs.

Regular users should wait for the public betas, which usually arrive a week or two after the developer builds. Final updates for all users tend to occur in the following weeks, with an emphasis on stability.

Details about the builds

Each system received specific builds that reflect the initial stage of development. Apple typically iterates quickly in these betas with additional fixes based on feedback from testers.

The current cycle follows the usual pattern of smaller updates between major annual releases of the Apple ecosystem.
