Samsung has started global distribution of the March 2026 security update for mid-range models Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A56. The software package arrives to reinforce users’ protection against cyber intrusions and vulnerabilities, following the South Korean manufacturer’s monthly maintenance schedule.

The move comes shortly after the premium Galaxy S24 line received the same improvements, demonstrating the brand’s agility in protecting its catalog of most popular devices. The update is essential to maintain the integrity of personal data, especially in a scenario of increased unauthorized access attempts to mobile devices.

  • Model Galaxy A55: Versão firmware A556EXSDCZC4 with 300.85 MB.

  • Model Galaxy A56: Versão firmware A566EXXS9BZC6 with 380.07 MB.

  • Initial availability: Índia, with expansion planned for Brasil soon.

  • Total fixes: 65 security flaws addressed in the package.

Technical details about the fixed vulnerabilities

The new software build focuses exclusively on the security of the Samsung’s operating system and custom interface. In total, the March patch eliminates 65 security holes that could be exploited by malicious actors to compromise the device’s operation.

Of the flaws fixed, 60 are related to the system core Android, developed by Google, while another 5 are specific to the One UI, the customization layer of Samsung. Entre of these vulnerabilities, 8 were classified as critical severity, meaning they allowed execution remote code or full control of the smartphone without direct user interaction. Outras 52 flaws are high level and 3 are considered moderate risk, affecting areas such as memory management and wireless connectivity.

Expectations for the arrival of One UI 8.5 in intermediaries

Although the focus of this update is strictly security, owners of the Galaxy A55 and A56 models are awaiting news about the brand’s next big interface. One UI 8.5, based on Android 16, should bring advanced artificial intelligence features and significant visual changes, but is not yet present in this March package.

Industry experts indicate that Samsung is prioritizing system stability on mid-range devices before releasing the beta phase of the new interface for these models. Atualmente, the testing program is focused on the Galaxy S25 line and the latest foldables. The expectation is that the Galaxy A56 and the Galaxy A55 will join the list of devices eligible for the One UI 8.5 beta from the second quarter of 2026, possibly between the months of May and June.

Procedure for installing the new security patch

To ensure that the device is protected, users should download as soon as the system notification appears on the screen. The installation process takes about 15 minutes and requires that the smartphone has at least a 50% battery charge or is connected to the charger to avoid interruptions that could corrupt system files.

If the notification has not yet been received automatically, it is possible to check manually through the settings menu. Basta access the software update section and select the option to download and install the new features available on the company’s servers. It is recommended to use a stable Wi-Fi network, given the file sizes that exceed 300 MB in both models mentioned.

Expansion of the update schedule for the Brazilian market

The Brazilian market usually receives security packages a few days after the start of distribution on Ásia and Europa. Samsung maintains local servers to speed up the download process and ensure that the national variants of models Galaxy A55 and A56 receive the firmware approved by the country’s telephone operators.

In addition to security fixes, the March update also brings minor performance optimizations, aimed at reducing hardware heat during intense tasks. The Galaxy A56, equipped with the Exynos 1580 processor, features improvements in power management after applying the patch, ensuring slightly longer battery life in standby mode. The manufacturer reinforces that keeping the software updated is the main defense against spy software and other modern digital threats that target the Android ecosystem.
