A 6-year-old girl died in the early hours of this Friday (10) at Juiz of Fora, Minas Gerais, with suspected poisoning. The child’s mother, a 34-year-old woman, is hospitalized in serious condition in the same city. Polícia Militar was called on Thursday (9) by health professionals who were caring for the victims and raised the possibility of poisoning. Polícia Civil has already started investigations and is considering the possibility of contamination by “chumbinho”, an illegal and highly toxic substance.
The initial care for the girl and her mother took place on Unidade of Pronto Atendimento (UPA) Regional Leste. The child arrived at the scene with cardiorespiratory arrest and needed to be resuscitated by the medical team. Then, the mother, who was initially conscious, also presented a deterioration in her clinical condition.
