YouTube has released an update that allows users to set the daily short video limit to zero minutes. The change occurs in the Android and iOS cell phone application. Quem activates the option and sees Shorts’s feed disappear from the home screen.
The platform belongs to Google and has been testing similar features since October 2025. At the time, the minimum available was 15 minutes. The expansion to zero minutes began with controls for supervised accounts for teenagers in January 2026 and is now coming gradually to all accounts.

The initial idea came about to help parents manage their children and teenagers’ time on Shorts. YouTube allowed you to adjust limits between 15 minutes and two hours. The zero minute option was mentioned as something coming soon.
