The Denza Z Convertible first appeared in production form in the Salão Automóvel of Pequim. The model is part of the Z line of BYD’s premium brand and arrives with an initial focus on export markets. The convertible version maintains elegant lines and adds a retractable fabric top.
Denza plans to dynamically present the car at Festival of Velocidade of Goodwood at Inglaterra in July. Depois is expected to launch in other markets before China arrives. The example displayed in the showroom has a blue-green tone with a satin finish and a three-color interior.
Design follows an elegant line influenced by Wolfgang Egger
The look of the Denza Z Convertible resembles the proportions of luxury grand tourers. Ele shares most of its body panels with the coupe variant, but gains a redesigned rear end that improves overall balance. The bumpers appear cleaner, without the more aggressive style seen on previous prototypes.
The cabin accommodates four occupants in a 2+2 configuration. Removing the roof reveals the internal space without compromising structural rigidity, according to available information. Elementos in carbon fiber helps reduce weight in the body, seats and structural components. A small deflector on the hood contributes to airflow at high speeds.
- Capota fabric with electric drive that retracts at the rear
- Maçanetas hidden in ports
- Rodas light alloy with specific design
- Acabamento indoor in contrasting tones
- Uso extensive carbon fiber for light weight
The style bears the signature of Wolfgang Egger, current global design director at BYD and former head of Audi. Ele oversees work across the group’s brands, including Denza.
Sistema propulsion delivers more than 1,000 hp with three engines
The Denza Z uses a set of three electric motors with four-wheel drive. The combined power exceeds 1,000 hp, or around 746 kW. BYD claims that the model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 2 seconds.
The battery is compatible with the brand’s fast charging technology. Detalhes exact capacity and autonomy have not yet been disclosed in the static debut. The chassis features DiSus-M electromagnetic suspension, steering by wire and advanced driver assistance systems.
Essas solutions aim to balance straight-line performance with cornering stability. BYD’s E3 platform serves as the basis for the powertrain.
Estratégia prioritizes Europa and international markets
Denza opted for an unusual release order. The initial focus is on Europa and other export markets. The car must undergo additional validation at the Nürburgring circuit before series production.
In the Chinese market, local estimates point to prices between 400,000 and 500,000 yuan, around US$58,600 to US$73,200. Esse level is well below rivals such as the Maserati GranCabrio. The Z line also includes coupe variants and a more track-oriented version.
BYD sees the model as part of the offensive in high-performance electric segments. The Denza brand seeks premium positioning with accessible technology compared to traditional competitors.
Detalhes technicians still in the confirmation phase
The example in the salon displays elements that point to the intensive use of light materials. The magnetorheological suspension and assistance systems promise quick responses in different road conditions.
The convertible version preserves most of the mechanical characteristics of the coupe. Diferenças visuals focus on the absence of a fixed roof and adjustments at the rear. Denza has not yet released a complete sheet with weight, exact dimensions or battery numbers.
Concorrentes and segment positioning
The Denza Z Convertible enters a niche occupied by luxury convertibles with electric or hybrid powertrains. Ele combines high power with a four-person layout, which broadens the appeal beyond two-seater purists.
The claimed acceleration puts the model on the same level as electric hypercars from established brands. The estimated price on the China suggests an aggressive proposition for those looking for performance without the full cost of European rivals.
The performance on Pequim served as the static premiere. Next steps include dynamic testing and an appearance on Goodwood for an international audience.
