LIV Golf postpones New Orleans stage while negotiating financing with PIF

LIV Golf will postpone the tournament scheduled for Nova Orleans at the end of June. The information was released to ESPN by sources linked to the league this Monday, as the organization tries to secure additional financial resources after Fundo of Investimento Público of Arábia Saudita (PIF) suspended new financing commitments for the dissident circuit.

The tournament was scheduled for June 25th to 28th at Bayou Oaks at City Park, at Louisiana. An official statement on the postponement will be released on Tuesday, according to the same sources.

Nova Orleans presses for decision

In an interview during the broadcast of the opening round of the LIV Golf tournament on México’s Cidade last week, O’Neil defended the league’s ability to remain operational. “The reality is you receive funding during the season and then work tirelessly as a company to create a business and a business plan that keeps us going,” said the CEO. “But this is no different than any other private equity-funded deal in human history.”
