Plane crashes into building in Belo Horizonte leaving two dead and injured

A single-engine plane crashed and hit a residential building in Região Nordeste of Belo Horizonte this Sunday. The aircraft took off from Aeroporto from Pampulha at 12:16 pm and collided with a construction located at Rua Ilacir Pereira Lima, in the Silveira neighborhood. Segundo o Corpo of Bombeiros, the pilot and a passenger died in the accident. Três people suffered injuries and were taken to Hospital João XXIII.

According to records from Agência Nacional of Aviação Civil (Anac), the aircraft is an EMB-721C model manufactured in 1979. The plane has a total capacity for five passengers in addition to the pilot, totaling six occupants. At the time of the accident, five people were on board. The owner of the aircraft is identified as Flavio Loureiro Salgueiro.

The advanced age of the aircraft, 47 years since its manufacture, does not necessarily explain the accident. Aviões single-engine engines of this generation continue to be in operation with several Brazilian operators, as long as they are maintained in accordance with technical requirements.

Equipes remains at the scene carrying out searches and collecting evidence. Firefighters are working to check if anyone is still missing in the structure of the building or among the debris of the aircraft.
