The CEO of IO Interactive, Hakan Abrak, confirmed in an interview that the new James Bond game will arrive on Nintendo Switch 2. The promise was made personally to the The Game Business portal and marks an important point of commitment to the platform, unlike what happened with Borderlands 4, which had development paused after being postponed.

Jogo already runs on the console, but adjustments continue

Segundo Abrak, 007 First Light is already running on Switch 2. The executive explained that the Interactive IO invests additional time to ensure quality compatible with players’ expectations. The version for Nintendo is scheduled to arrive in the late summer in the northern hemisphere, a period that covers approximately August, although delays are possible depending on optimization demand.

The CEO was blunt in his statement: “It’s running on Switch 2. Só we want to make sure it’s as good as possible. Não I want to hear that it wasn’t a good release. Para to be completely honest, we need a little more time to get it the way we want it.”

Histórico of Bond on Nintendo motivates investment

The Interactive IO recognizes the historical importance of the James Bond franchise in the Nintendo ecosystem. Abrak reinforced this commitment by stating: “Bond occupies a special place at Nintendo. And I promise that I will do everything in my power, and I can do a lot as CEO, to make this consolidate.”

Essa stance contrasts with problems faced previously. Hitman: World of Assassination, the launch title of Switch 2 from the same developer, arrived with serious performance issues. IO Interactive was forced to release a patch that added a 30 FPS locked mode to improve the overall experience. The experience served as a lesson to avoid repetition in 007.

Defined Release Calendário

007 First Light hits the market on May 27, 2026 on the platforms:

  • PRAÇA
  • PlayStation 5
  • Xbox Series S|X

The Nintendo Switch 2 version will follow later, with a confirmed date for the end of summer.

Abrak made it clear that the difference with this approach is ensuring that each version works within the expected technical parameters before being released to the public. IO CEO Interactive demonstrated a willingness to use his position to coordinate necessary resources, avoiding scenarios where release date pressure compromises quality.
