Square Enix has confirmed that the third and final installment of the Final Fantasy VII remake will set new heights of ambition for the franchise. The project will significantly expand the scope compared to the previous two titles, covering more territory in the world of Gaia with bold reinterpretations of the original plot. The Highwind, the series’ iconic vehicle, will play a central role in both the narrative and game mechanics, functioning as a transformative element of the experience.

Expanded Duração and content

Desenvolvedores revealed that part 3 will last significantly longer than its predecessors. Enquanto Final Fantasy VII Remake offered between 35 and 40 hours of gameplay and Rebirth provided 65 to 70 hours, internal estimates point to an experience of 80 hours or more, considering side quests and additional content. The scope exceeds twice that of the first title released in 2020. Cidades, dungeons and secondary locations will receive narrative depth equivalent to the main environments of the original series.

The complete trilogy will total approximately 200 hours of content when completed. Personagens secondary parts of the classic plot such as Vincent, Yuffie and Cid will receive in-depth narrative arcs parallel to the main campaign, enriching the player’s overall experience.

Highwind as a revolutionary mobile hub

The Highwind will work far beyond simple transport. Square Enix has integrated the vehicle into the core gameplay mechanics, offering features that transform exploration and combat. The design allows players to access rest chambers and save points during flights, manage inventory and upgrade equipment in real time while traveling.

  • Participação in aerial combat against specific enemies in the final phase of the game
  • Exploração from air-only restricted areas, unlocking exclusive side missions
  • Acoplamento from vehicle to map structures to solve innovative environmental puzzles
  • Navegação in dynamic weather affecting viable routes and fuel consumption
  • Encontros with random enemies influenced by weather conditions

Dynamic Weather Sistema has been confirmed as a non-decorative element. Tempestades, fog and northern lights will influence the aerial crossing, creating unique meteorological challenges that impact route viability and Highwind’s resource consumption.

Tecnologia visuals and performance on PlayStation 5

Part 3 was developed exclusively for PlayStation 5, taking advantage of the updated specifications of the next-gen hardware. High-resolution Texturas covers entire biomes without area loading, maintaining fluidity at 60 fps in fidelity mode or 120 fps in performance mode. Ray enhanced tracing focuses on water surfaces, reflecting real-time light effects during night flights.

Animações’s characters have received refinement through motion capture with over 500 new sequences just for interactions within Highwind. Cinemáticas in-engine responds to the player’s previous decisions, generating narrative variations that directly impact the final scenes of the trilogy.

Lançamento and impact on the industry

Square Enix signaled that part 3 will not be divisible into smaller segments, launching as a single product with approximately 150GB of data. Pré-load will begin 48 hours before the official launch to ensure immediate access for players. Confirmação’s Q4 2026 target period keeps the developer on track for its reported 2023 timeline, although no exact date has been formally announced.

The industry observes Final Fantasy VII Remake part 3 as a reference for investment in remakes of classic franchises. The ambitious scope combines fidelity to the original narrative with contemporary mechanical innovation, setting a standard that competitors study to justify development cycles of three to four years between major releases.
