Instituto Meteorológico and Gestão Hídrica (IMGW) of Polônia issued level 1 alerts for violent storms that will hit practically the entire national territory from 2pm on Monday until 1am on Tuesday. The warnings cover fourteen Polish voivodeships (administrative divisions), creating a dangerous weather scenario with the potential to cause significant disruption to infrastructure, urban mobility and population safety.

Regiões under weather alert

IMGW has declared a state of alert for the following Polônia administrative regions:

  • Pomerânia
  • Masóvia
  • Cuiávia-Pomeranian
  • Grande Polônia

Geographic coverage ranges from the coast to the central and southern areas of the country, affecting strategic areas that demand special attention from the population. Autoridades locations in several municipalities were activated preventively to ensure a quick response to possible emergencies.

Fenômenos expected weather

Forecasts indicate wind gusts that could reach approximately 75 kilometers per hour, with the potential for even higher extremes in certain areas. Concentrated Precipitações are expected, reaching levels close to 20 millimeters on average, accompanied by the risk of small hail in isolated areas. Instituto points to intense rainfall as a critical component of the frontal system that advances over Polish territory, characterized by significant atmospheric instability that produces direct impacts on urban mobility and electrical infrastructure.

Alertas specific to the Polish south

Além of the general storm warnings, the IMGW issued specific notifications for intense rains in the southern areas of the country. Districts south of Silésia and selected portions of Pequena Polônia, including the municipalities of Susk, Wadowice and Oświęcim, received separate level 1 warnings ahead of unusually heavy rainfall. Para these locations, rainfall is expected between 1 am on Tuesday and 12 pm, with accumulations varying between 15 and 30 millimeters, reaching 40 millimeters in isolated sectors. Este pattern of concentrated rain intensifies the risks of overflowing watercourses, waterlogging of soils and landslides in areas with pronounced relief.

Período critical and protective measures

The phenomenon intensifies from mid-afternoon on Monday, with the following night representing the height of instability. Meteorologistas from IMGW point out that the maximum probability of occurrence of the most severe events is concentrated between 6pm and midnight. Emergency response Equipes are on standby to respond to requests related to fallen trees, localized flooding or structural damage caused by wind. Autoridades recommended that drivers avoid unnecessary trips during the period of greatest storm intensity and that residents stay informed through official meteorological channels.

Contexto climate and continuous monitoring

The IMGW advisories reflect increasingly frequent patterns of climate variability in Europa Central. Severe weather events have become more common in recent decades, according to data accumulated by the institute. The announced storm is part of a broader atmospheric pattern that will affect the entire region in the coming days. IMGW maintains continuous monitoring of the weather front that brings these unstable systems closer to Polish territory, providing periodic alert updates as the situation evolves.
