Caixa Econômica Federal interrupts the Mega-Sena draws this week to focus efforts on a special prize pool scheduled for May 24th. Competition 3010 will celebrate 30 years of the lottery with an estimated prize of R$300 million, resuming the regular calendar after draw 3009, held last Saturday (May 16).

The strategic pause aims to maximize the volume of bets in the commemorative contest, following the same logic as Mega and Virada. Até there, the public will have seven days to choose numbers exclusively for the special edition. The draw will be held at 11 am, on Espaço of Sorte, on São Paulo, with live broadcast on the institution’s social networks.

Quando and how to bet on the special contest

Apostas for the 30th anniversary contest has been available since April 26th, running concurrently with the other draws until May 16th. From May 17th, sales will be exclusive to the 3010 contest, ensuring that all bets are focused on this historic edition.

The betting period ends on May 23rd at 10pm Brasília time. The simple bet costs R$6 and includes six chosen numbers. Apostadores who hit four or five tens also win smaller prizes, proportional to the number of hits. Pool shares can be purchased until 10 am on May 24th, allowing group participation until the last moment.

Modalidades betting available

Caixa offers two main ways to participate in the special contest:

  • Aposta simple: R$6 with six selected numbers, eligible for the main prize
  • Prêmios secondary: hits of four or five tens receive proportional values
  • Bolão Caixa: group modality with a minimum price of R$18, with shares starting at R$6 each
  • Collective Bolão: possibility of placing shared bets through the specific wheel or with the help of a lottery attendant

Essa flexibility allows different profiles of bettors to participate, from those with a reduced budget to groups that want to increase their chances through pools. Mega-Sena maintains these options as a financial inclusion strategy, democratizing access to the biggest prize pool in the game.

Histórico of Mega-Sena’s biggest prizes

The special contest worth R$300 million is among the highest values ever offered by the lottery. Consultando the historical record, only a few draws have surpassed this mark:

  • Concurso 2,525 (October 1, 2022): R$317,853,788.54
  • Concurso 2,150 (May 11, 2019): R$289,420,865.00
  • Concurso 2,237 (February 27, 2020): R$ 211,652,717.74

The absolute record remains in October 2022, with R$317 million. The prize announced for the 30th anniversary edition is at the level of the most generous draws in the last five years, reaffirming the strategic importance of celebrating the institutional milestone.

Birthday Contest Diferencial

Diferente of the regular draws, contest 3010 follows the non-accumulation rule, similar to Mega of Virada. Isso means that the main prize will necessarily be distributed among the winners, making it impossible to accumulate for subsequent contests. Essa modality historically attracts a greater volume of bets, justifying the strategic pause in the draw calendar.

Caixa took advantage of the lottery’s 30th anniversary to carry out this special action. The institution uses these commemorative dates as opportunities to engage with the betting public, reinforcing the brand and amplifying revenue at specific periods of the year.

Organização from Caixa for the special draw

Preparation for the 30th anniversary edition includes publicity actions on all sales platforms, including physical lottery stores and digital channels. Espaço of Sorte, in São Paulo, will be the setting for the draw, maintaining the standards of transparency and security that characterize Caixa events. The live broadcast will guarantee real-time monitoring by bettors across the country.

The interval between the last regular draw (May 16) and the commemorative contest (May 24) serves as a transition period, allowing systems to be adjusted exclusively for the special edition. Essa organization reflects the importance that the institution attaches to the event, treating it as a corporate celebration and an opportunity for relationships with customers.
