The possibility of seeing inFAMOUS return to PlayStation consoles gained momentum after confirmation from leaker Nate the Hate. The insider posted on X that “there is truth in Sony exploring and considering reviving some of its older, unused IPs.” The statement reverberates in the community precisely because the source is recognized as one of the most accurate in the games market.

Precedentes of rumors and speculation

Apesar Furthermore, the speculation was enough to stir the PlayStation fan base, bringing back conversations about the franchise that the brand has been lacking for over a decade.

Sony has accumulated a sizable portfolio of dormant franchises. inFAMOUS, Sly Cooper, Ape Escape, MotorStorm, Resistance, Jak & Daxter, Killzone and Gravity Rush have not been released for years. Cada one of them carries with it a legion of nostalgic players who wait for a new chapter.

Modelo development with independent studios

One of the strategies discussed internally would be partnerships with independent developers. The approach has already been successfully tested on God of War: Ragnarök and similar projects. Esse model allows maintaining active franchises without overburdening Sony’s main first-party studios or requiring huge budgets typical of AAA production.

Jordan Middler indicated that a possible new inFAMOUS was being developed by another studio, away from the hands of Sucker Punch. Tal setup would align with the strategy of outsourcing smaller projects while maintaining creative oversight in-house.
