Ten compact SUVs will arrive in India between 2026 and 2028

Índia will receive 10 new compact SUVs over the next 3 years, reinforcing competition in one of the most dynamic segments of the automotive industry. Montadoras as well as Honda, Hyundai, Tata, Kia, Renault, Volkswagen, Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki and VinFast are preparing launches with gasoline, hybrid, electric and CNG engines. The broad offer caters to Indian families looking for more space, modern technology and renewed design.

Electric Modelos gains strength in the portfolio

Três electric SUVs will be present among the launches. The Hyundai Compact EV arrives at the end of 2026 or beginning of 2027 with a range of around 400 km, aimed at customers looking for an affordable option. Kia will expand its portfolio with the Syros EV in the compact segment, increasing its presence in the electric SUV market. The VinFast VF 3, a micro SUV with a 18.6 kWh battery, will be positioned at a more economical price to reach customers interested in electric vehicles with modern features.

Diversidade powertrain meets heterogeneous demand

The next generation Tata Nexon, which will arrive in late 2027, maintains the versatility that has made it Índia’s best-selling compact SUV. The model will offer turbo gasoline, CNG and fully electric, reflecting Indian families’ search for different propulsion technologies. The Kia Sonet will also be renewed in late 2027 with a new platform, larger dimensions, updated design and improved interiors.

The Renault Bridger, expected in mid-2027, will introduce 48V mild hybrid technology at a price point that currently does not exist in the Indian market. Volkswagen Tera will also arrive in mid-2027 with premium positioning, sharing design elements with the Kylaq and using a 1.0 TSI turbo gasoline engine.

Atualizações expands current model offering

Established Modelos will receive restyled versions to maintain competitiveness. The Maruti Suzuki Brezza Facelift will offer factory-installed CNG with an underbody tank and six-speed manual transmission, making the vehicle more practical for families. The Mahindra Vision S, based on the NU IQ platform and scheduled for early 2027, will feature SUV proportions with a strong presence and will be offered with 1.2 turbo gasoline and 1.5 diesel engines. Essencialmente a smaller-scale Scorpio N, the model aims to compete in the compact segment.

The Volkswagen Tera will complete the premium offering in the segment. Construído based on the MQB A0 IN architecture, the model will use a 1.0 TSI turbo gasoline engine and will share design elements with the Kylaq, maintaining a visual identity aligned with the brand’s Índia strategy.

Modern Plataformas drives innovation

The new platforms used in these SUVs allow for more updated designs, greater interior space and advanced technologies. The Hyundai Compact EV will leverage electric vehicle concepts to deliver competitive range. The next generation of Kia Sonet will use a new platform with increased dimensions, ensuring better use of space. The Volkswagen maintains its segmentation strategy with the MQB A0 IN architecture, shared with other global models, reducing development costs and allowing the offering of turbo technology in a compact segment.
