Goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos has expressed his desire to remain at Sevilla after his loan with Newcastle United ends. The 32-year-old Greek has established himself as an absolute starter in La Liga and feels at home at the Andalusian club.

According to information, Newcastle informed the player that they do not count on him for next season. However, the English club seeks to recover part of the approximately 24 million euros invested in his signing and has set the price at 10 million euros for a possible sale.

“I feel very good here, my family feels very good. We love being here, we love the club and the city”, declared Vlachodimos, demonstrating his attachment to the Seville project. The goalkeeper arrived at Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán in August 2025 and played 33 games in La Liga this season.

Sevilla’s delicate financial situation, which is struggling to balance its accounts, should complicate any negotiations for a permanent transfer. The club is already studying alternatives, such as a new loan, while evaluating the Greek as an option to reinforce the target in the coming seasons.

Vlachodimos enjoyed his best recent phase in Spain, gaining the trust of the fans and the coaching staff. His performance helped Sevilla remain in the elite of Spanish football, which reinforces the interest in keeping him. On the other hand, Newcastle needs to define its squad for the next Premier League and sees the Greek as a piece to generate revenue.
