Tottenham have agreed to sign defender Marcos Senesi on a free transfer following the end of his spell at Bournemouth.
The 29-year-old will officially complete his move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on July 1, pending international clearance.
Senesi, who has three caps for the Argentine national team, chose to leave Bournemouth this season after turning down three renewal offers from the club.
The central defender — who was not part of Argentina’s squad for this summer’s World Cup — said it was a “very special feeling” to join the team that won the Europa League in 2025.
“From the first moment, the club demonstrated why they want me and how much they want me to be part of the project they are building. It’s exciting and something I can’t wait to experience”, added Senesi, who played for four years at Bournemouth.
“Every time I take the field, I will do my best to make the fans proud and put the club back where it deserves. I want to win titles with Tottenham and I will do everything to make that happen.”
The former San Lorenzo and Feyenoord player is Tottenham’s second reinforcement for the summer, following the arrival of Andy Robertson also on a free transfer from Liverpool.
Welsh defender Ben Davies, 33, has also agreed a new one-year contract to remain at the club.
Coach Roberto de Zerbi stated that Senesi, who will wear the number 5 shirt, will “strengthen” the team’s defensive sector after two consecutive seasons ending in 17th place in the Premier League.
“He feels comfortable in teams that play with possession, reads the game well and has the personality to stand out in a demanding environment,” added the Italian.
“I also love his mentality and desire to continue evolving and I look forward to working with him and seeing the great contribution he can make to the team.”
Tottenham also announced that 29-year-old midfielder Yves Bissouma, who is out of contract, will leave the club this summer.
He arrived in 2022 from Brighton in a deal worth around £30 million and played 90 games.
