Tottenham Hotspur will no longer have midfielder Yves Bissouma from next season. The Malian international will leave the English club at the end of his contract, which expires on June 30, 2026.

Bissouma arrived in North London in 2022 from Brighton and played more than 100 games in the white shirt. Despite fluctuations in the Premier League and off-field problems, he played an important role in the campaign that culminated in the 2024/25 Europa League title, achieved with a 1-0 victory over Manchester United in the final.

The player stood out especially in the semi-finals of the European competition, with consistent performances that helped the team advance. The achievement represented Tottenham’s first trophy in 17 years and the third title in the club’s Europa League/UEFA Cup history.

With his departure confirmed, Bissouma, 29, joins the list of players available as a free agent on the market. Clubs from Türkiye, France and other leagues have already shown interest in his signature, attracted by his Premier League experience and ability to dictate the pace in midfield.

Tottenham’s decision not to extend the contract is part of a midfield shake-up. The club had already been evaluating options for the sector and chose not to activate the one-year extension clause, freeing up salary space and paving the way for new signings.

What changes for Tottenham

Bissouma’s departure represents the loss of a midfielder with marking and quick transition characteristics. However, the cast has options such as Conor Gallagher, who gained space in the season, and other names in development. The priority now is to reinforce the sector with younger profiles or those adapted to the technician’s style.
