WhatsApp is finally offering support for multiple accounts on the iPhone, one of the most awaited features by iOS users. This advancement promises to transform the way individuals manage their personal and professional communications within the app.
New options for adding or linking profiles on WhatsApp
In November last year, the messaging platform began the testing phase for the multiple profile functionality with beta users on the iPhone. This move signaled the proximity of full implementation of a highly requested feature.
The preliminary version was released months after the WABetaInfo portal identified signs of the new feature in the application’s code, also indicating preparations for a future username system.
Although development of the username system is still ongoing, WhatsApp has now officially released multiple account support to all users through the latest version available on the App Store.
As pointed out by WABetaInfo, the company had officially announced the functionality a few months ago, but “not all users were able to add a second account immediately” as it was “still only available to a limited number of people.”
This gradual rollout approach is not unusual for WhatsApp, which often adopts slow, incremental rollouts. The app’s recent visual redesign with the Liquid Glass feature, for example, took more than seven months to reach a wider audience after initial testing, and to this day it is still not available to all users.
To check the availability of the functionality, users must access “Settings”, then “Account”, and look for the “Add account” option.
If the option is visible, just tap “Add account” and follow the same configuration procedure used when registering for the first time on WhatsApp.
It is possible to register a new phone number or link an existing account by scanning a QR code. Once configured, switching between accounts becomes a simple task, carried out directly through the “Account” menu.
The platform continues to improve its functionalities to offer a more complete and efficient user experience to its millions of users.
