Dailon Rocha Livramento, the 25-year-old center forward who plays for Casa Pia, from Portugal, on loan from Hellas Verona, will be one of Cape Verde’s main hopes for a goal this Monday, at 1pm (Brasília time), against Spain, in Atlanta. The match opens the first round of Group H of the 2026 World Cup and marks the Blue Sharks’ historic debut in the tournament.
Dailon Rocha Livramento do Rosário was born on May 4, 2001, in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. At 1.85m tall and with right foot, he stands out for his physical presence in the area, heading and eye for goal, attributes that made him an important option in the Cape Verdean team’s attack.
Trained at Dutch bases such as NAC Breda and Roda JC, Dailon shone at MVV Maastricht, where he scored 20 goals in 63 games in the second division. In 2024 he transferred to Hellas Verona and is currently on loan at Casa Pia, in the Portuguese Primeira Liga, where he wears the number 10 shirt.
Dailon Rocha Livramento’s trajectory
Since making his debut for Cape Verde’s senior team in 2024, Dailon has accumulated around 20 call-ups and 5 to 7 goals. He was decisive in the African Qualifiers, scoring the winning goal against Cameroon that helped secure a direct place in the first World Cup in the country’s history.
At 25 years old, the striker arrives at the World Cup in the process of adapting to Portuguese football, but with high morale due to his upward trajectory from Europe to football’s main stage. His versatility as a center forward or winger gives coach Bubista options.
Spain arrives undefeated and as favorites
The Spanish team, led by Luis de la Fuente, is one of the great candidates for the title. Undefeated for 30 games, winner of the European Championship and the Nations League, they are looking to overcome early eliminations in World Cups since 2010.
Probable lineup for Spain: Unai Simón; Llorente, Laporte, Eric García and Cucurella; Rodri, Pedri and Fabián Ruiz; Dani Olmo (or Baena), Ferrán Torres and Oyarzabal.
Cape Verde bets on the attack’s goal scoring ability
Bubista should choose a team with quick transitions, using Dailon Rocha Livramento as a reference in command of the attack alongside Ryan Mendes and Jovane Cabral.
Probable lineup for Cape Verde: Vozinha; Wagner Pina (or Steven Moreira), Diney Borges, Pico Lopes and Sidny Cabral; Kevin Lenini, Deroy Duarte, Jamiro Monteiro, Jovane Cabral and Ryan Mendes; Dailon Rocha Livramento (or Nuno da Costa).
