Bethesda has named its next Elder Scrolls game The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel. The studio revealed the title, its first official logo and a teaser in a video in which Todd Howard celebrated the 40th anniversary of Bethesda Game Studios, based in Rockville, Maryland.
The name ends a wait of eight years, counted from the game’s original announcement at E3 2018, when the sequel was shown only with a teaser and the number VI. Days before the reveal, a report cited sources linked to Bethesda saying the title would be Sentinel. Skyrim, the game’s predecessor, was released on November 11, 2011. In July 2026, journalist Jason Schreier reported that the expectation was a launch around mid-2028. That is a report of expectation, not an official date, and the studio has not confirmed it.
Sentinel: what the official name and teaser show
The teaser does not show gameplay, a release date, platforms or a price. It presents the name, the logo and a short text attributed to Yazar, a Moth priest who serves Queen Iradne of Hammerfell, set in 4E 206.

The name Sentinel points to a likely setting in Hammerfell, because Sentinel is a city in that province of Tamriel. Bethesda has not confirmed the region, so the game’s setting remains unofficial.
Bethesda gives no release date, platforms or price for Sentinel
Bethesda said that development continues, but that it will take some time before the studio shares new information about the game. In its post about the name, the studio wrote: “ainda vai demorar algum tempo”, or, in English, it will still take some time.

The company has not announced a release date, a launch window or a price. It also has not said whether the game will come to PlayStation or to Xbox Game Pass at launch. Any date for the game is therefore unknown, and no report from the studio has yet set one. Because the teaser shows no gameplay, there is no official material yet on how the game will play.

Sentinel: what is still unknown about the game
The studio has not explained the meaning of the Yazar passage for the story. It has not confirmed the setting or the time period of the game, and it has not said when more information will come. Until the studio makes a new announcement, the name, the logo and the teaser are the only official material available.
Some reports have given different versions of details around the reveal. One source said the game was called Redfall, a name that other sources, including O Tempo and Zigg, did not report, since they confirmed Sentinel. Asked about Todd Howard‘s job title, sources have described him differently, so this article does not give a role for him.
