Fatal accident during Disney+ recordings at UFRJ: 55-year-old professional dies after falling on set
A 55-year-old man lost his life last Sunday (14) after falling during a filming trip. He participated in the production of “Homicide Police Station”, the new national series that will be released on Disney+.
Luiz Fernando, the deceased professional, was working on the filming that took place in a building at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), located in the North Zone of the capital of Rio de Janeiro.
Working in the team’s electrical maintenance, he had approximately two decades of experience in the audiovisual segment. His death was confirmed by AfroReggae Audiovisual, one of the production companies responsible for the series.
The tragedy occurred when Luiz Fernando fell from the second floor of one of the buildings used by the production. After the incident, the Fire Department was called, provided first aid on site and took the worker, in serious condition, to the Evandro Freire Municipal Hospital.
Subsequently, the body was transported to the Afrânio Peixoto Medical-Legal Institute (IML), located in the center of Rio. Relatives of the victim attended the scene, and the widow chose not to issue a statement about what happened.
The producer AfroReggae Audiovisual reported that it is offering support to the family, following the legal processes and collaborating fully with the authorities in charge of investigating the circumstances of the fall.

On digital platforms, several of Luiz Fernando’s friends and colleagues published tributes, expressing their regret. The messages highlighted the professional as a beloved figure behind the scenes, always remembered for his contagious smile, his care for his teammates and the light atmosphere he brought to film sets.
A friend shared that they had had lunch together the day before and mentioned that Luiz Fernando enjoyed hearing stories about parties, competitions and “the lighter aspects of life.”
“Rest in peace, my friend. LF, a big and loving hug”, wrote the colleague in his publication.
