Several owners of the Galaxy S23 line are expressing great dissatisfaction with Samsung after a recent update. The One UI 8.5 version of the operating system has been associated with the appearance of unwanted “green lines” on smartphone screens, generating a wave of complaints.
Although the software was released with the aim of improving the user experience and correcting existing vulnerabilities, many users report that the installation caused visible and worrying damage to the devices’ hardware.
The reports cover different models in the series, including the Galaxy S23 Ultra, and consumers emphasize that their devices had no previous history of falls, exposure to liquids or any type of physical damage before the update.
One of the most alarming cases was that of a user who described the immediate appearance of a green line on the screen shortly after completing the update process. Additionally, other owners of the Ultra version mentioned the appearance of pink lines on their panels.
The main suspicion among those affected is that the new software is creating direct conflicts with the screen drivers, resulting in permanent physical damage to the component. It is important to note that this is not a widespread problem that affects all devices in the range.
So far, Samsung has chosen not to issue official comments on the incident. However, the company is offering a free screen replacement service for Galaxy S23 users.
This free repair offer has specific conditions: the device must have been purchased within a period of up to three years and must not show any signs of physical damage caused by the user.
If the device does not meet the warranty conditions or requirements established by Samsung, the cost of replacing the screen can be considerably high, directly impacting consumers’ pockets.
In a parallel scenario, the South Korean manufacturer is accelerating preparations for the launch of One UI 9, scheduled for next month, with new features being gradually revealed as development progresses.
