Heiress and financial manager die after being murdered in a luxury property in South Africa
Tragic destinies crossed at a high-luxury property in South Africa, where the heiress to a vast business fortune was shot dead. The crime occurred in Leeuwfontein, in the province of Limpopo, just 24 hours after the murder of the same family’s financial manager, within the same rural complex.
Authorities confirmed that 26-year-old Caroline von Rantzau was found dead in her bedroom. The young woman’s death, which occurred on June 1st, was detailed by the local police, according to information published by the German newspaper “Bild”.
Reports of gunshots preceded the discovery of the heiress’s body on the vast property. The place, known for offering hunting safaris in the renowned South African region, had its tranquility shattered by the shots that hit Caroline.
Investigations indicate that Caroline may have been shot with a .357 caliber hunting rifle. Interestingly, an identical weapon was kept in the closet of Eberhart von Rantzau, his father, who is the managing director of Deutsche Afrika-Linien/DAL, based in Hamburg, Germany.
The body of Arno Koën, financial manager of the family property, was found dead hours before Caroline’s murder. The 44-year-old man had been shot with a 9mm pistol, and his death was recorded on May 31.
The spokesperson for the South African Police Service, Malesela Ledwaba, highlighted the importance of expert reports. She stated that “the results of the autopsies will provide investigators with crucial data on the exact causes of the deaths.”
Arno Koën was a key player in the administration of the Leeuwfontein property, being in charge of reserves and finances, as reported by the newspaper “Bild”. He was considered a confidant, mentor and even an “adoptive father” to the young heiress.
To date, authorities have not made any arrests in connection with the two homicides. Investigations into the tragic events remain ongoing.
