Rafael Câmara is scheduled to test with Ferrari 2025 in Barcelona
Rafael Câmara, a Brazilian driver, is about to resume command of a Ferrari Formula 1 vehicle, one month after his first experience with a car in the category. As reported by the “Autoracer” portal, the Italian team assigned the talented Pernambuco native to a private test session with previous models (TCP) that will take place this Thursday at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, in Spain.
The young man from Recife, who is 21 years old, is part of the prestigious Ferrari Driver Academy (FDA), a crucial program for training new talents. Currently, Câmara competes for the Invicta team in Formula 2, the final stage before Formula 1, and celebrates a recent achievement: last Sunday, he obtained his first victory in the main race of the Barcelona stage, starting from pole position.
The Ferrari team, which curiously triumphed in the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix on the same circuit as Lewis Hamilton, will maintain its presence on the Catalan track in the coming days, Tuesday and Wednesday. It will be alongside Aston Martin and Cadillac, at a joint event to test the 2027 tires from Pirelli, the official supplier of F1. In these tests, the SF-26 bolide, referring to the year 2026, will be driven by Charles Leclerc.
Previously, in mid-May, Câmara had already had the opportunity to drive the SF-25, this being his debut with the model. The Brazilian sportsman participated in tests with the Italian brand’s car at the Hungaroring Circuit, known for hosting both a Formula 2 stage and the Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix.
Currently, expectations are high surrounding the possible participation of the Pernambuco native in a free Formula 1 training session, a fundamental step towards a future in the main category. Frederic Vasseur, head of the team, had already expressed the team’s plan to include Câmara in future F1 sessions, reinforcing the strategic importance of these tests for its development.
In this 2026 season, Câmara has already been present in five stages of Formula 2. As a newcomer to the Invicta team, the same one that saw Gabriel Bortoleto become champion in 2024, the driver from Pernambuco accumulated two other podiums, in addition to the unprecedented victory obtained last Sunday in Barcelona.
His performances include a second place in Australia’s main race and a repeat of that podium in Sunday’s Miami race. Previously, Câmara was in second place in the championship, close to the then first-placed Gabriele Mini. However, a sequence of less favorable results led to his retirement in Monaco, even though he started from pole position, before the turnaround in Barcelona.
With the triumph achieved this Sunday, the promising driver rose in the championship, now finding himself in third place. He is behind Nikola Tsolov and current leader Gabriele Mini.
