A woman passed out on the platform at Parada Inglesa station, on Line 1-Blue of the São Paulo Metro, on Monday night (15). Images recorded by passengers show the victim lying down, bleeding from the nose and forehead.

The case began as an attempted theft. The attacker allegedly tried to steal the woman’s cell phone while still inside the carriage. When he failed, he pushed her out of the train and kicked her in the face, according to witness reports.

Metro security agents intervened quickly, contained the suspect at the scene and took him to the 73rd Police District, in Jaçanã. He was released after initial procedures.

Bodily injury depends on the victim’s complaint

The Public Security Secretariat (SSP) classified the incident as a bodily injury. As this is a conditional criminal action crime, the investigation only continues if the victim formalizes criminal representation within the legal deadline.

The woman received her first care at the station and was taken to the Mandaqui Emergency Room for medical care.

Violence on public transport in São Paulo

Cases of aggression in or near Metro and CPTM stations are recurrent in the capital of São Paulo. The SSP reported that, in the first five months of 2026, 454 suspects were arrested for crimes committed in metro or adjacent facilities.

The episode at Parada Inglesa reinforces the concern about security on platforms, especially at slower times, when passengers are more exposed to criminal attacks.

São Paulo Metro maintains security teams at stations and advises users to immediately call agents in risky situations.
