The new Dacia Striker, a large crossover station wagon, is approaching its official launch, scheduled for autumn 2026. With an estimated starting price below 25,000 euros, the model has already had a prototype spotted testing in Spain, possibly sporting the long-awaited Hybrid-G 4×4 propulsion system.
Romanian automaker Dacia intensifies efforts to complete the development of the 4×4 version of the Striker, preparing the arrival of this new vehicle on the market.
Despite its unveiling in March, the Dacia Striker has remained little exposed to the public in recent months. However, internally, Dacia is advancing in the final stage of development of this crossover van, which will become the brand’s flagship, measuring 4.62 meters. The prototype recently spotted testing in Spain suggests that it could be equipped with one of the most anticipated engine options.
Details of the multi-energy engine planned for the Dacia Striker
During the presentation of the Striker, the manufacturer informed that the line will include hybrid models, a 4×4 hybrid variant and an LPG version, without delving into technical details. The Striker is expected to inherit the powertrains from the Dacia Bigster, including the 1.2 mild-hybrid gasoline-LPG engine with Hybrid-G 150 4×4 all-wheel drive. This configuration was developed to offer a balance between performance, versatility and optimized consumption, marking a notable evolution for Dacia in relation to the mechanical simplicity of its previous generations, a point that could influence the traditional perception of the brand. Information published in the Spanish press indicates that the engine powering the current prototype is precisely this option, signaling its likely offering from launch.
Positioning of Striker between different segments of the automotive market
The entry-level version of the Dacia Striker, with a starting price of less than 25,000 euros, already has considerable ground clearance. To consolidate its off-road profile, the Romanian brand, belonging to the Renault Group, may choose to further enhance this feature in conjunction with four-wheel drive, mirroring the Duster’s successful strategy. This approach could fill a market gap, attracting audiences who previously appreciated models like the Octavia Scout, discontinued by Skoda. The complete Striker line, which will become Dacia’s most sophisticated model, should be detailed before the Paris Motor Show, scheduled for October, an event where the vehicle promises to be one of the highlights.
