Ancelotti’s praise for Endrick reveals extraordinary talent, but coach curbs expectations
The coach of the Brazilian team, Carlo Ancelotti, gave high praise to striker Endrick this Thursday (18), before Brazil’s match against Haiti in Group C of the World Cup, in Philadelphia (USA). Even without taking the field in the 1-1 draw against Morocco, the young player was described by Ancelotti as an “extraordinary talent”. The coach, however, indicated that he will only select Endrick “at the right time” for the team.
Ancelotti’s statements came during questioning about his preferences in the offensive sector, given the options between Matheus Cunha, Igor Thiago and Endrick. The press sought to understand the coach’s criteria for forming the attack.
Ancelotti detailed the characteristics of Matheus Cunha, describing him as a striker with versatility to play both in the middle and on the flanks, a true center forward. He compared this skill with that of Igor Thiago, who also stands out as a reference in the area, strong in physical confrontations and aggressive in regaining possession of the ball. However, when talking about Endrick, the coach made a notable distinction, stating that “Endrick is something else”, setting him apart from the rest.
The coach reinforced his perception, reiterating that Endrick stands out in a unique way, classifying him as an “extraordinary talent”. He expressed confidence that Brazil will benefit from the young striker’s skills in both the current tournament and the next World Cup. Ancelotti also highlighted Endrick’s unusual patience and maturity for his age, characteristics that he considers essential for high-level football. Ancelotti’s cautious approach of integrating young talent gradually and without rushing is a hallmark of his career, known for protecting promising players from excessive pressure in major competitions, aiming for sustainable long-term development.
Despite the abundant praise, Ancelotti maintained a discreet stance when explaining why Endrick has not yet started or been used on the field. He only reiterated that he is “waiting for the right moment” for the player’s debut, suggesting that the waiting time will still persist.
