Images capture ‘The Ring’ and ‘Lilo & Stitch’ actress living on the streets before her death at 35
A video record, acquired by a private investigator, reveals actress Daveigh Chase homeless in the city of Los Angeles, months before her death at age 35. The artist was widely recognized for having voiced the “human” protagonist in the animation ‘Lilo & Stitch’ and for playing Samara in the classic horror film ‘The Ring’.
John Ryan, who served as the actress’ manager for more than a decade, and his half-sister, Gaia Brown, hired the detective approximately a year ago. The initiative arose from deep concerns about the artist’s delicate health, desperately seeking to locate her.

Daveigh’s whereabouts were finally discovered in late 2025, when she was spotted in poor condition on the streets of Los Angeles, visibly weakened. The video, which was briefly released and then removed from social media, showed Chase extremely thin and barely conscious, apparently inside a tent or trailer.
The investigator reported being able to contact Chase by phone to try to rescue her and send her for treatment. However, upon arriving at the place where she was supposedly living, the actress had already “disappeared”, frustrating the attempt to seek immediate help.
Her sister and businessman’s proposal was to take her to a rehabilitation clinic in Costa Rica, followed by a period of follow-up in the United States, aiming for her full recovery. “We were so close to finding her,” Ryan told The Post. He also expressed his disbelief and sadness, stating that “Daveigh was the sweetest, brightest person in Hollywood. I can’t believe this is real. His legacy and his work will live on forever.” The tragedy of his passing highlights the silent battles that many public figures face, contrasting public image with personal reality.
Daveigh Chase died on June 17, due to meningitis and sepsis, after being hospitalized due to severe malnutrition, as reported by TMZ. The actress had been away from the spotlight for around ten years, with no new work in film or television, with ‘Jack Goes Home’ and ‘American Romance’, both from 2016, being her last credited projects.
Daveigh Chase’s memory remains eternal, especially for her remarkable performance as Samara in ‘The Ring’.
