Kensington Palace confirms that Prince George will enter elite school attended by William and Harry
Kensington Palace confirmed the future enrollment of Prince George, who turned 12, at one of the most prestigious educational institutions in the United Kingdom. The eldest son of Prince William and Kate Middleton will begin his studies at the traditional Eton College in September, following in the footsteps of his father and uncle.
This decision puts an end to a months-long period of speculation about the royal firstborn’s next academic stage. George is currently enrolled at Lambrook School in Berkshire, alongside his sister, Princess Charlotte, and brother, Prince Louis. Upon entering secondary education at Eton, the young prince will adopt a boarding school regime.
Founded in 1440, Eton College is widely recognized for educating generations of the British elite, including several members of royalty. The institution was the place of study for both Prince William and Prince Harry and is located close to Windsor Castle, where the royal family currently resides.
However, the choice of school does not seem to have been a consensus within the royal residence. Reports in the British press indicate that Kate Middleton expressed apprehension at the idea of her eldest son leaving home at such a young age. The Princess of Wales was reportedly concerned about George’s adjustment to the boarding school environment, remembering personal experiences that were not entirely positive at boarding schools during her own youth.
