Big titles leave PlayStation Plus catalog in July and increase debate over subscription price
The PlayStation Plus game catalog is preparing to lose twelve major titles on July 21, impacting Extra and Premium subscriptions. The monthly rotation of games, a usual Sony practice, now takes place amid significant readjustments in plan prices, generating discussions among subscribers about the cost-benefit of the service.
One of the highlights that will leave the platform is Risk of Rain 2, an acclaimed cooperative roguelike that has won many fans since its launch in 2020. In it, players collaborate to explore an alien scenario full of dangers, with the risk and reward mechanics dictating the pace. The game is praised for its varied classes and vast customization options, boasting an “Extremely Positive” rating on Steam, with more than 161,000 reviews, and a score of 85 on Metacritic.
Another notable loss is Tropico 6, the latest politics and management sim developed by Limbic Entertainment. Players take on the role of “El Presidente”, leader of a fictional Caribbean nation, and lead the republic through four eras following its independence from British imperial control. The title received favorable reviews and has a sequel, Tropico 7, already announced for 2026.
Also coming out is Cursed to Golf, a roguelike with a unique proposal set in golf purgatory. In the game, the protagonist must overcome a maze of fields and obstacles using limited shots, all in an attempt to escape and return to the world of the living. Its innovative premise distinguishes it among the various racing titles available on the market.

The withdrawal of these games comes weeks after major additions to the PlayStation Plus catalog, such as Destiny 2 and Final Fantasy 16, and a recent increase in prices for all subscription plans. PlayStation Essential, for example, saw its monthly fee rise from US$9.99 to US$10.99, and the quarterly option, from US$24.99 to US$27.99. Other subscription levels have also undergone adjustments, reflecting a trend towards more expensive video game services and consoles in the current market.
