The National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) once again authorized the sale of several batches of Ypê brand detergents and disinfectants. The products had previously been suspended from the market due to irregularities in their manufacturing and composition.
Details of Anvisa’s decision on commercialization
The authorization granted by the regulator specifically covers cleaning articles produced from January 1, 2026. The decision was announced by the agency, which considered the reports and technical analyzes provided by Ypê to be adequate for all batches of detergents and disinfectants manufactured in the current year. The agency works to ensure the sanitary compliance of goods and services, protecting public health and ensuring consumer safety.
The cleaning product manufacturer committed to voluntarily recalling detergents that presented problems. According to the regulator, Ypê will remove from the market all items produced by March 31 of this year, an action classified as preventive to reduce risks and standardize operations, according to the plan approved by Anvisa’s Collegiate Board.
The initial suspension of Ypê products was motivated by Anvisa’s detection of bacteria in more than a hundred batches. This alarming discovery was made during a detailed inspection at the company’s manufacturing unit, located in the interior of São Paulo, where 76 irregularities were recorded in the production process.

Understand the history of the suspension of Ypê products
Previously, the sale of Ypê products had been halted by Anvisa. A final report of an inspection, conducted in April, showed evidence of irregularities in the tank used to handle dishwashers. Agency inspectors also noted that leftover products were being stored and reintroduced into packaging lines.
In an attempt to reverse the ban, Ypê, a well-known cleaning product brand, proposed 239 corrective actions. The initiative aimed to suspend the recall and stop production of part of its items, as announced by Anvisa itself.
Anvisa’s deliberation generated wide debate on digital platforms. Political figures and artists aligned with former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) made accusations that the health agency was acting with political motivations, benefiting the electoral interests of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). Such publications encouraged the consumption of the brand’s products, ignoring whether or not they belonged to the initially prohibited batches.
Previously, Ypê had spoken out, defending the safety of products whose sale had been suspended by Anvisa. The company in the hygiene and cleaning sector declared that it has a solid scientific basis, with tests and technical reports from independent laboratories, which confirmed the safety of its items in the dishwasher, concentrated dishwasher, liquid washing machine and disinfectant categories, without presenting risks to consumers.
