Federal government ensures continuity of Gás do Povo in July for low-income families and details access
The distribution of the Gás do Povo Program, also known as Auxílio Gás, is confirmed for the month of July, maintaining essential support for thousands of low-income families throughout Brazil. Payments, already traditional, will be made from the 10th of next month, ensuring that beneficiaries will be able to pay for refilling their cooking gas (LPG) cylinders, significantly alleviating household expenses.
The management of the program involves collaboration between the Ministry of Development and Social Assistance (MDS), the Ministry of Mines and Energy and Caixa Econômica Federal, which manages the issuance of top-up vouchers and accredits the points of sale. It is important to highlight that the aid is not granted in cash, but rather converted directly into the purchase of a 13 kg cylinder from authorized resellers, after electronic validation.

The criteria for receipt includes families in a situation of social vulnerability, giving preference to those enrolled in the Bolsa Família program and households with a per capita income that does not exceed half the minimum wage. Considering that the current value of the minimum wage is R$1,621, the initiative seeks to support millions of homes across the country, especially those who face greater difficulties with so-called energy poverty.
Expanding safety and access to cooking gas in the country
In addition to financial relief, the program plays a fundamental role in promoting safety and well-being, seeking to reduce the use of more dangerous and unhealthy cooking methods, such as burning wood. This measure aims to improve the health conditions and quality of life of the families served. The system also offers digital tools for checking eligibility and locating accredited resellers, making access to the benefit more practical.
The maintenance of Gás do Povo highlights the Federal Government’s commitment to social protection policies, consolidating it as one of the main tools to support vulnerable families. In this way, continuous access to the benefit is ensured, providing greater stability and predictability in the aid over the months.
