The project aligns with the institution’s long tradition of using quantitative methods to analyze football in major competitions. This is the third time that the school has developed a predictive model for the World Cup tournament, reinforcing the expertise and continuity of its statistical analyzes in the sport.
Statistical victory projections revealed by FGV
Statistically, the probabilities for the result of the confrontation are as follows:
- Argentina victory: 61.6%
- Draw: 23.7%
- Austria victory: 14.7%
Most likely scoring scenarios for the clash
In addition to the general chances, the FGV/EMAp survey also details the most expected results for the match. A 1-0 victory for Argentina is the most likely score, estimated at 16.3%. Then, a 2-0 victory for the Argentines comes with a 13.3% chance. A 1-1 draw represents the third most popular possibility, with 10.4%.
