Flamengo analyzes Aston Villa’s proposal for Emerson Royal and assesses the financial impact on the club’s planning
Aston Villa, an English Premier League team, has formalized an offer to sign right-back Emerson Royal, currently at Flamengo. The initial proposal presented by the British club is 9 million euros, which is equivalent to approximately R$53.29 million at the current price, and is under analysis by the red and black board.
Flamengo’s leadership is expected to comment soon on the offer, which has already been forwarded to the football department for evaluation. The negotiation information was initially published by ESPN and, later, confirmed by sources linked to GE.
Internally, Emerson Royal is seen as a crucial player for Flamengo’s squad, presenting a consistent performance in recent months. Despite having faced criticism from the fans in previous seasons, the full-back has been an important player under the command of coach Leonardo Jardim, which makes the decision on his possible departure complex.
Flamengo’s board of directors also considers the importance of selling athletes to maintain financial balance and increase the club’s investment potential. However, a possible negotiation of Royal would imply the immediate need to look for a replacement on the market.
Since arriving at Flamengo, Emerson Royal has participated in 40 games, scoring one goal and contributing five assists. The player was acquired last year from Milan in a transaction that reached R$78.8 million and has a valid contract with the Rio club until 2028. The difference between the purchase price and the current proposal, in addition to the remaining time of the contract, is a determining factor in Flamengo’s assessment of the economic viability of the negotiation.
