Martinelli highlights Brazil’s objective of leading the group in the World Cup to maintain logistical advantages in the USA
Gabriel Martinelli held a press conference this Monday (22) in New Jersey, in the United States. During the event, the Brazil striker shared his impressions about the final stage of the World Cup group stage and highlighted the relevance of the next clash for the national team.
The Brazilian team is preparing to face Scotland this Wednesday (24), in the third round of Group C. The green and yellow team depends exclusively on their own result to guarantee first place in the group, which would bring both sporting and logistical benefits.
Striker Martinelli highlighted the priority of winning and remaining at his current training base in the United States. “We certainly want to go to Miami and win the game to rank first. Staying in the hotel here with all the facilities we have here is much better. Our mentality is to win and stay here for all the benefits we have here”, explained the player, emphasizing the importance of avoiding the exhaustion of new trips and adaptations.
Brazilian attack analyzes challenging clash against Scotland
The athlete also commented on the imminent clash against the Scottish team. According to their expectations, the game will be closely contested due to the individual quality of the opponents and the need for victory for both sides.

Martinelli mentioned well-known English football players when analyzing the opponent. “It’s going to be a difficult game, they have a lot of quality players. There’s McGinn, who we always face against Aston Villa, and Robertson. They will definitely come with everything to try and beat us,” he said.
Given the simultaneous dispute of the games in the round, the attacker informed that he prefers not to follow the score of the other match in the group. For him, the key is to maintain total focus on the Brazilian team’s performance on the field.
Team harmony off the field as a crucial factor
Martinelli made a point of highlighting the climate of unity within the Brazilian delegation during the World Cup. The attacker detailed that daily coexistence has been a key point in keeping the group cohesive and motivated throughout the competition.
“Everyone is always playing, playing cards all day long, there are video games downstairs. I think this makes the environment very light. If everyone is well outside, things flow well on the field”, concluded the striker, indicating the link between personal well-being and performance on the field.
