Temperatures rise and the Arizona Valley prepares for days of intense heat with peaks of 45°C
An intense heat warning has been issued for the Valley region and western areas of Arizona, scheduled to be in effect this Wednesday and Thursday. Meteorological authorities indicate that these two days will be marked by an Imminent Weather Alert due to high temperatures. The most recent update, released on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 9:00 PM local time, details the situation for Phoenix.
Given the forecast, it is recommended that the population stay adequately hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, especially during the most critical period of the day, between 10am and 6pm.
The maximum expected for today reaches 43°C, with an increase to 44°C this Tuesday. However, the days of greatest concern, Wednesday and Thursday, predict temperatures close to 45°C, which, if confirmed, will surpass the 44°C mark recorded on June 16, so far the hottest day this year in Phoenix.
For next weekend, the expectation is that the heat will ease. A change in the jet stream could provide moderate relief, with the maximum for Saturday estimated at 43°C, falling to 41°C on Sunday.
Ambient humidity also tends to rise discreetly in the middle and end of the week, contributing to morning temperatures remaining high. Nighttime lows, between Wednesday and Friday, should be around 31°C.
In addition to the Valley, the rest of Arizona is also facing severe conditions. An extreme heat warning remains in effect for the lower reaches of the Grand Canyon today and tomorrow. The southeast of the state, in turn, will also receive a similar alert for Tuesday and Wednesday.
The mountainous area, in contrast, experiences predominantly dry weather today, but there is a small chance of thunderstorms this Tuesday. This probability increases considerably for Wednesday and Thursday, especially near and north of the Mogollon Rim rim.
